@mscote12 Oh I would definitely give JMBR a go. I don't especially like her cardio workouts so here is how I would do a JMBR/21DF hybrid:

    Monday: JMBR
    Tuesday: JMBR
Wednesday: 21DF Total Body Cardio Fix & Pilates Fix
    Thursday: JMBR
    Friday: JMBR
    Saturday: 21DF Cardio Fix & Dirty 30
    Sunday: Yoga Fix

I'd probably have to tweak it a bit because I'm not sure I could handle that Saturday schedule. Maybe I'd rotate the 3 cardio workouts so that I'd do one each time there's a JMBR cardio and still add Pilates Fix in on at least one day. Regardless, I'd try to keep Saturday as that active recovery day because I do believe that's important.

@SatiaRenee Thanks for the suggestion! I will look into JMBR :)

@mscote12 I definitely don't find it as redundant and boring as I did 30DS and every 2 weeks, you advance to the next level of workout. I've lost 6 lbs since starting it (albeit, I'm also doing PiYo) so I definitely think it's a good program. Still following the 21DF meal plan, however.

    Morning Workout

    JMBR
    P1/W3/Rest Day

I needed it because my ankle is hurting so much today. I don't know if the pain is the result of walking around a lot yesterday (shopping with a friend) or the exercising I did yesterday (at home and at the pool with a different friend) but I am limping a bit today. Not happy.

    PiYo
    W3/D7/Strength Intervals

Aching ankle didn't keep me from doing PiYo, although I didn't even try to do the modified PiYo Kick Through because that would have been too much for my ankle. I ended up holding Beast and Plank for that part of the workout. And I was dripping sweat down my face. Yuck. But I did it and that's good. Now I just need to have breakfast and take something for the pain/inflammation.

Have a great Sunday everyone. I plan on doing some housework, laundry, and watching a movie with my husband later today.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was busier than I'm used to and spent time with a couple of my friends on Saturday.

    Yesterday

I haven't really been feeling anything in my abs but tightness. No DOMS at all. So I figured I'd go ahead and give Rob's ab workout a try. Yep. Yesterday I decided to do P90 Abs Ripper B. It was tough. Ugh. But you know what? Today I don't feel any DOMS. I'm going to give it another day and see how my abs feel. If there's still no "oof" moments, I'll add an ab workout to my daily routine.

    Morning Workout

    JMBR
    P1/W4/Workout 3

I am beginning to think I won't be ready to move onto the next Phase and 3 DVDs because I am still really struggling with Workout 3. I am doing the push-ups on my knees, lowering to lighter weights for the lateral raises, and I can't even hold plank for the plank-ups (like Autumn's bonus workout where you are down on your elbows and then up-up-down-down. Today just wasn't one of my better days.

    PiYo
    W4/D1/Sweat

I really hate to sweat and this workout is tough. The other day I had to drop out of downward dog a few times but this time I was able to struggle through with no problem. I want to add some round stickers to the chair I use for balance to give me a point of reference to help give me something on which to focus. I'm sure Rob will be baffled at first when he pulls out the chair for his triceps dips but he's clever and will figure it out. Or ask me about it.

@SatiaRenee So this morning, I attempted Jillian Michaels Body Rev phase 1, dvd 1 and....I loved it! I was dripping sweat by the end of the workout and felt good! I was still challeneged but the exercises were moves I could do without getting frustrated with myself lol

I am excited to try dvd 2 tomorrow morning... :)

@mscote12 Awesome! It's definitely less boring than 30DS and Ripped in 30 and whatever other JM DVD I have. (I forget what that third one is. LOL!) I mean, I don't like the cardio one that much but I just remind myself that I only have to do it 2x a week and for the first month. Next week, I change not only the strength but cardio DVDs. I'll be previewing all of them.

There's a group here on MFP for people doing the program:
    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/2883-jillian-michaels-body-revolution

To be honest, I think people here are more encouraging than they are in the other group but your experience may be different from mine.

Used 7.5/10 lbs today with no problem. It was tough but I toughed it out. I didn't notice anything off about my balance.

    PiYo
    W4/D2/Core

I fell out of side plank today. I had been thinking of doing Hard Core on the Floor after Core but I decided to watch the DVD before giving it a go and she does the kick through. My ankle is still bothering me and I just can't put that much pressure on it.

Yeah. I consider doing an hour of exercise taking it easy on my ankle. Don't judge me.

Been a while since I checked in and actually missed two days of working out with some birthday madness but all is calm again so back at it. :) wasn't feeling 21df today so threw in 30DS and did a level 1 workout and 5 min on the elliptical. Hubby starts nights tonight so easier to get another workout or cardio in when he's not here.
Had a lot of fam here and they all said I am looking great! Which was nice to hear, some even saying don't lose anymore!! Sigh...I don't know why but it bothers me when people say that. Shrug.

@venuila From my experience, weight loss follows a certain pattern.

    1) You start and you pretty much struggle on your own. You may have told others and they may or may not be supportive but most of it is you and your commitment.
    2) You start feeling a difference, maybe even see a difference, but others aren't seeing it . . . yet.
    3) People start noticing and commenting, ask you what you're doing and tell you to "keep up the great work" and it feels great!
    4) You continue losing and those people who were encouraging you before are now warning you about how they know someone who lost weight doing what you're doing but they gained it all back or they start teasing you about how if you keep losing weight you'll be too thin, lose your boobs or your butt or whatever.
    5) You either give up because, you know, everyone else is right and now you "know" your results weren't going to last anyway. Or you recommit and continue what you're doing because you know damn well it's working and you aren't giving up until you reach your goal.

In other words, you pretty much start where you end, pretty much on your own. But you'll find out who your real friends are because those friends will continue encouraging you even through stage 4. They will never tell you that what you're doing isn't lasting or that you're getting too skinny. They will be encouraging you and supporting you every step of the way. The others? Well, you do you and let haters hate.

Injured myself while doing JMBR. Just my knuckle but ouch!

    Update About My Mother

She now has two working DVDs and yesterday she did Upper Body Fix. She is loving the workouts even if she's not necessarily keeping up with everything and everyone. She's 75. I think she's doing amazingly well!

    Morning Workout

So my wedding ring banged my knuckle and after the workout there was a bruise. Ouch! But I finished out the workout (after all, how much do you need a knuckle for cardio?).

    PiYo
    W4/D3/Buns

I forgot this one isn't done with bare feet. I guess it's a good thing it also didn't require a lot of my being in downward dog and such. And boy were my legs feeling it! Not sure if it's because I had just done cardio with Jillian Michaels or what but if I'm not sure tomorrow, I'll be surprised.

Thanks @SatiaRenee :) I never really thought about it but that pattern is pretty accurate! I won't let them stop me but it's still gonna tick me off, lol.

Kudos to your Mom! That is amazing that she is doing it at 75! Very impressive! Sorry about your knuckle that sucks, way to go toughing it out though :)

I did a 30 DS level 2 workout today. My arms are sore from level 1 yesterday. Not sure what I'm gonna do tomorrow maybe a level 3 one... I never made it to level 3 when I attempted the 30 DS in the past so could be interesting.

Yesterday I had a rushed morning because my son and I were heading to get my x-rays done (hip and ankle) and wouldn't you know it, the PiYo workout for yesterday was the longest. Hoping the doctor's office will call me today with results from the x-ray and tell me what I can and should do about the pain.

    Morning Workout: Yesterday

    JMBR
    P1/W4/Workout 3

Managed to do a couple of full body push-ups (surprised myself!) and then had to drop to my knees. I also alternated on the lateral raises using 7.5 lbs because my left shoulder was not happy, for some reason. Still managed to use 10 lbs most of the time so I was feeling accomplished. Plus, I knew I was facing PiYo next and didn't need to over-exert myself just yet.

    PiYo
    W4/D4/Drench

Okay. So maybe I was a little spent but the truth is I never did make it all the way through this workout when I did my first round of PiYo. I'm not surprised that I had to back off a few of the workouts. It was definitely challenging and, as the name suggests, sweaty. I managed to finish early enough to take a much needed shower and still had time to get dressed and put on make-up before my son arrived. Whew!

    Morning Workout: Today

Yaaaaay! It's a Rest Day in PiYo so only one workout this morning. Yaaaaaay!

    JMBR
    P1/W4/Workout 4

Used 10 lbs for everything but the "Good Mornings." Again, my shoulder was not having it and I didn't see a purpose in pushing myself when I'm already dealing with whatever is going on with my right leg. In the meantime, I did take a video of myself doing push-ups. My first time EVER being able to do them at the ripe ol' age of 53!

Hello all! Looks like everyone is plugging along. I'm still doing the regular 21 DF. I managed to lose what I gained on vacation. Amazing how it took a week to gain but almost 2 to take it off again. I just ordered the Fixate cookbook so hoping I can get some new ideas from that. My 23 yr old son is "attempting" to do this with me. Let's just say he's not quite grasping the concept. Keep trying to explain to him that it's NOT okay to replace the yellow containers with tortilla chips EVERY day. I pack him healthy lunches every day for work (he works at a day camp) and my daughter tells me he's been cheating a bit. Hopefully he'll buckle down soon and do it right. It's costing me a fortune to shop for double the amount of healthy food.

    Morning Workout

    JMBR
    P1/W4/Cardio 1

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not a fan of this cardio workout but today was my final time doing it because on Monday I move on to Phase 2 of Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution. Not sure if I will be able to keep up but I'm going to give it my all. (Rob is out of town until Tuesday and, when he gets back, he'll be advancing to the C level in P90.

Windows 10 update finally came through and popped up halfway through my workout but I minimized the window and just kept going.

    PiYo
    W4/D6/Strength Interval

I'm still babying my ankle during the kick throughs so I'm not quite doing the workout all the way. I should have a diagnosis soon (or a referral to a sports medicine specialist). In any event, I went ahead and updated to Windows 10 between the two workouts which slowed me down a bit. Worked in my favor, however, because Rob called to say good morning and I would have been unable to answer otherwise.

    Have a great Saturday everyone!

Wow. I didn't even check in yesterday. Goes to show you how much I'm enjoying being alone. No Rob around and I seem to lose all focus on my routine. It's looooovely.

    Yesterday's Workout

Rest Day for JMBR sooooo . . .

    PiYo
    W4/D7/Sweat

My ankle is not happy with me so I didn't try to do everything but I kept up with almost everything which is something. I even finished the workout thinking I could do more, so I did.

    P90: Abs Ripper A

Rob is doing P90 so I grabbed his DVDs and did the A level (he took B with him on his trip) and it was good. Not too hard. But the real test is how the abs feel the next day.

    Today's Workout

    My abs feel fine. Hmph!

    JMBR
    P2/D1/Workout 5

Today I begin Phase 2 and OMG! I was grunting and struggling and that was in spite of my using lighter weights!!! I knew the workout would be tougher so I decided to use "only" 5 & 7.5 lbs. This workout starts with push-ups that go into side planks. There are tricep presses and sumo squats with shoulder presses and single leg squats with . . .

Ugh. I am surprised I survived. More surprising is what happened next.

    PiYo
    W5/Day 1/Sculpt

Seriously. Why am I doing these two workouts together? I must be a glutton for punishment! I was not able to keep up. I didn't have it in me to do more push-ups so I just held planks. I had a muscle cramp while in three legged down dog. This is a difficult workout without my already having pushed myself hard. Sheesh! But I didn't give up because I knew my son was in Chicago suffering along with me, give or take an hour or two.

    Ankle Update

Still no word from my doctor's office but I am going to wait until the end of today and, if there is still no word from them, I'll call tomorrow. The ankle is painful enough sometimes to wake me up at night if I move it wrong and I'm definitely being careful while exercising, trying not to exacerbate it. The sooner I know what is going on, the sooner I'll know what to do about it. In the meantime, I wait. Impatiently. ;)

    Hello Everyone!

The x-ray results came back normal which means I probably have a torn ligament or something. Glad I don't have even a hairline fracture but frustrated that I keep tearing things in my legs. My ankle is still hurting and now I will be seeing an orthopedist who will probably tell me to stop doing whatever it is I'm doing that's causing me to injure myself. The problem is, I don't know how this happens so it's hard to stop doing something when you truly don't know what that something is. Needless to say, I'm worried that he will tell me to stop doing any and all low-impact exercises and just do no-impact.

    Exercise Update

I was super busy this week so I didn't check in daily (obviously) but it doesn't look like anyone else updated since Saturday so . . . . here goes nothing!

    Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution
    P2/W1

I started Phase 2 this week and I've been sore every day and all over. I had to drop down to lower weights too. I simply couldn't do the Superman with anything more than 3 lbs. I have to make all of the plyo moves low impact and I have a lot of difficulty with the Stork (a bent over row done in Warrior III) and Statue of Liberty (one legged squat with a weighted front arm raise over the shoulder). Anything that requires a lot of balance will be a struggle for me because I have none.

One more week with Workouts 5 & 6 and then I start using Workouts 7 & 8 which I've heard are much more difficult. I was telling Rob that I feel like I may not be strong enough to finish this program, yet, but I am going to keep trying. If I do have to give up on it, I won't give up on myself and I can always come back to this program later, when I am stronger and maybe able to finish it out. We'll see.

    PiYo
    Week 5

Although I had little to no problem doing PiYo with 21 Day Fix, there are days when I feel like doing it with JMBR is beyond my physical limits, especially on days when Jillian works triceps and then Chalene has us doing several sets of triceps push-ups. I do my best and modify as needed. The truth is, I've been feeling very physically defeated lately.

    Time to Get Focused, Again

I've been a little less focused on my eating this past week as well. I gained weight when I moved up a food bracket so I've dropped back down to the original bracket but I wasn't tracking my containers and I knew I was skipping out on a few several times this past week. This week, beginning today, I'm going to get back on top of things, tracking my containers and making sure I take pictures of all my meals which I share on IG. And this week we celebrate my daughter's birthday so I will be having a treat meal (pizza, cake, ice cream) but plan on not going too crazy with how much I have. (I can eat A LOT of pizza very easily.)

And yes, my mother is still doing 21 Day Fix and my one friend has been doing the workouts but not following the meal plan and my other friend is trying to do both but not quite succeeding. And I just keep cheering them all on from the sidelines.

This week ends Phase 2 part 1 and on Monday I'll be swapping out this past two weeks' workouts for two new ones. I hear that the next two are pretty much the hardest of the program and I'm already feeling a wee bit intimidated. That said, I'm proud of myself for keeping up, even if I am having to modify so much that I sometimes feel what I'm doing is unrecognizable. Still, I'm not giving up and that's all that matters.

With that said, I may not pick up with JMBR when I get back from my vacation. I know I can't do it while out of town (it requires free weights which I obviously don't plan on packing). I just can't see myself taking 2 weeks off from the program and trying to pick it back up. It makes more sense for me to just pick up a new program to carry me through the rest of the year. So Shaun T Focus T25 will be starting (for me) on October 19th! Yaaaaay!

    *So Far So Sore*

I'm officially halfway through Jillian Michaels Body Revolution and I'm staying sore. Just when I stop feeling as sore as I do on day one, new and harder workouts are introduced. There's no adjusting to what you're doing because, by the time you reach the second week and start thinking maybe you can increase the weights soon, you're swapping out.

Balance is the most serious issue for me but I'm able to prop myself. All of the plyometrics moves I make low impact. I am surprised by how well I'm doing in keeping up. I just wish I were able to do more of the push-ups without dropping my knees. Someday . . .

There are days when I think that pairing JMBR with PiYo was not a good idea. There are days when JMBR pushes me to my limits and then I end up doing an especially challenging PiYo workout and want to just give up. But I try not to. I won't lie. There are times when I sit out the last set of push-ups or don't do as many reps. Other times when I swap out one move for another. I try not to stop moving. Definitely try.

@dixiewhiskey How did the 5k go? I let my daughter borrow some of my non-JMBR Jillian Michaels DVDs. Curious to see what she thinks of them.

@cupcake570 I love that your son is doing this with you. My son was doing PiYo with me but I suspect that he slacked off last week and I doubt that this week he is not even trying to finish because he's traveling. I'll know soon enough. He'll be here on Tueday!

It was good, thanks for asking. I ran it in 38:30. Today I ran 6k in 44:47. 30DS every day. Will try to add 21DF on days that I am not running.

Has your daughter done any of them yet?
