RNY questions

my husband had his RNY on Wednesday. He's following the clear liquids. He's complaining of feeling bloated. Wondering if it's just gas or him drinking too much. He is using a measured cup so that he doesn't over do it. Any ideas? I keep telling him it could take a few days for the gas to go away.

I was bloated for most of a week. His body is going through a crazy time right now. Bloat is gonna happen. It happens after the liquid stage too. For me, I use a daily Beano meltaway each AM and then another PM if I feel a little puffy. It's going to happen, sometimes for quite a while. I'm 7.5mo post.

It's normal. Walking around will make it better.

I agree with walking. I remember pre surgery when they would talk about that, they said walking would help.

Walking and Gas-X melt-always. While this may be TMI, a lot of the "bloat" feeling went away after my first bowel movement, which was 5 days out.

The bloating is from the gases/air pumped in to do the laparoscopy. It goes away with time, walking, etc. Walking is essential because that air needs to come out.

    Walk, drink, rest.
