Does anyone know any alternative for metformin? (It could be supplement or medicine or anything)
I have tried both metformin normal and extended release but my body is not accepting it , so my doctor asked me to continue only myo-inositol sachets thas it
Note - I am insulin resistant

Inositol is helpful but you might need more than you are taking now. I was on 6g to 8g a day before I could cut down my metformin but I've heard of people on 12g a day.0

Yes, it does. It is a naturally occurring vitamin (B8), but our PCOS-broken bodies don't make enough of it so we have to supplement it, but it needs to be a significant dosage, as @Alliwan mentioned above.0

How should i decide as to how much dose is the limit?0

I would slowly adjust up every few days. I believe @Alliwan and @Dragonwolf have successfully done this to find the optimum dosage for themselves, and for @Dragonwolf's husband too. As @Alliwan mentioned above, she was on 6-8 grams a day, and we've heard of dosages up to 12 grams, so it's really a trial and error thing to find your level.0

My inositol contains vitamin d3 and folic acid .
Is it fine to increase that too?
I would like to know the side effects of increased inositol dosage so that I can know my limit too and stop increasing the dosage?0 -
You might have to get a second type of inositol to increase the levels, since it has the other things. I know D3 can have a toxicity level, but it has to be pretty high for a while. Folic acid, I don't know about.
And I personally am not familiar with the other effects, so I'll have to leave it to the other ladies to fill you in there.0 -

There is no known safe upper limit for Inositol itself. Studies have gone as high as around 18g per day without any recorded side effects of note (some people do find it makes them tired shortly after taking it, but that's the extent of it, and once you reach the point that it does that, it's not dose-dependent). I've personally been taking 12g for around a year with no issue. For PCOS, there isn't usually much of a need to go that high, though. That's the studied therapeutic dose for neurological disorders. 4g is the typical amount used in the PCOS studies, and most women respond at that level.
I would consider making up the difference between the higher dose and what your current sachets do with a plain bulk Inositol, though. As mentioned, D3 does have an upper limit for toxicity, since it's fat soluble (folic acid doesn't, though; it's water soluble). Even so, at the higher dose of Inositol, you'll probably be wasting your money on the combined one as you exceed the amount of folic acid you need, so getting the bulk plain inositol will probably save you money.0 -
I am suffering from nerve pain in my leg . So as of now there is no exercise and I have gained some of my weight.

B12 deficiency can lead to neuropathy. Metformin, hormonal medication, and many others can interfere with its absorption. I have a "nerve spot" in the joint of my left thumb from this... If you do supplement B12, you can use it separately, but if you do a separate B12, make sure you get a Super B-Complex, too, because B12 alone will cause the other B vitamins to deplete...0

There are too many causes of nerve pain, especially in the leg, to be able to recommend anything definitive. If you were on Metformin before, if you've been on the birth control pill, or if you're vegetarian, try B12/B-Complex supplementation and see if it helps. If it doesn't, you'll probably want to talk to your doctor and see if you can find the underlying cause.0

Both Cinnamon and Chromium help with insulin resistance. I'm not sure of the Cinnamon dose, my stomach won't tolerate it. The Chromium I started with 500mCg twice daily and increased to 1000mCg twice daily after a month. It does wonders on appetite control for me as well.0

Be aware of your body if you are doing low carb and taking stuff like this. For me, it cause some weird hypoglycemia drops...0
