i have been on Paleo life style eating since March. But, since August I have been struggling. Yesterday I went on a real sugar binge. Why?
Also, how do I handle it now. What do I eat today? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

Only you can really answer why you binged, but my guess is because you feel deprived not eating sugar? When we restrict or feel restricted, binging is one of the side effects. It can be really hard to get back on the horse after this happens. But it is possible
Do you like eating paleo? What do you like about it? You need to examine why you're struggling. Sure we have slip ups, but you said you've been struggling for awhile. Make sure it's the right lifestyle for you; no shame if it isn't.
And if it is, just continue your paleo diet as normal!

We've all been there done that. Brush yourself off and hop right back on. Some would suggest fasting today until supper. What I would do is just get back to your eating plan and chalk it up as a speed bump. Don't be surprised if your cravings are insane the next few days. Just stick to plan, drink lots of water and move a bit. You've got this.

I am a strong proponent of the simplest possible answer here. You eat just like you've eaten every day that you were having success on Paleo from March to yesterday. If anything, go out of your way to eat your favorite on-plan Paleo foods. I love a good steak, if I find myself struggling, or if I fall off the wagon and am ready to hop back on, I'm going to start with a nice, big, enjoyable steak, just as a little symbolic thing to remind myself that I love the foods that I can eat in this WOE and that there's no need for me to stray.

But really, in an ideal world I try to see every decision about food as its own unique event. Every time you eat is a new choice to eat the right things or to eat something that you know isn't good for you. Sounds like since March, you've made hundreds, or maybe even thousands of good decisions about food. Yesterday you made a few bad ones in a row. Hopefully in that light, its easier to view as just a very tiny little blip, no one is perfect, and just go out of your way to make sure your decisions about what to eat over the next few days are good ones for you and you'll be right back where you wanted to be. Easier said that done sometimes, its easy to fall off and spiral out of control, god knows I've done it... but breaking it down this way helps me a lot.

I know others see it differently, this view has helped me when I've struggle. You got this!

As for the why, hard to say. Have you been craving things that you weren't for awhile? Have you been bored? Maybe make an effort to spice up the menu a bit with some new things? If its cravings, for some dropping the carb count a bit more helps with that if its something you're willing to experiment with. Or, examine what you eat on a regular basis and see if there are foods on the edge that might help give you cravings. Artificial sweeteners seem to be a problem for many people in this regard, etc. If its emotional eating, old habits, etc, working to discover healthier outlets for times that you might have, in the past, gone to ice cream or pizza to comfort yourself is pretty important.

Playing off @radiii idea about spicing up the menu, I know for me I had the blahs about 3 weeks ago and ended up on a binge. It was suggested to me to go back to the basics and that helped me. I'd spent so much time thinking about what to make and looking at different recipes and I was getting exhausted. So I stripped my diet back. Meat with veggies, eggs with cheese, bacon and eggs. No crazy recipes that take forever to make. Just some roasted or steamed veggies with a slab of butter and meat on the BBQ.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Exhausted? Unmotivated? What do you think caused you to binge?

Exercise to burn off the sugar

That is the only way to reverse it

And if you do eat 100 carbs, so just work it off.

Sometimes you get a craving for whatever reason

Take charge and work it off. Don't worry about it. Fix it. Burn it off.

Sometimes the memory of having to exercise for 4 hours makes you less likely to binge so hard next time.
