weight lifting and tracking

Options
Does anyone track when they lift weights? I am trying to figure out how to track my cross fit courses, or even simple weight lifting, but it is always a guess. Cardio is no problem, but weighs is a problem. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

No tracking of calorie burns for lifting for me. It is very low.

Cross fit is serious cardio. I would punch that in!

I don't do it but have friends that do. Sounds like a great workout like a Zumba calorie burn as a swag.

I track my weightlifting workouts using a heart rate monitor. I track all of my workouts using a heart rate monitor. GET A HEART RATE MONITOR!

Seriously, though, I think it's a good idea to track all of your workouts, but definitely give some thought to what you feel like you burned and be realistic (MFP tends to overestimate burn).

I don't know how helpful this will be, but here's a breakdown of some of my typical burns (5'4, 152lb, 28y/o female):

    45 minutes intense step aerobics (140+bpm tempo, 10" step) = 350-400 calories
    50 minutes Insanity = 350 -400 calories
    45 minutes weightlifting only = 200 calories
    60 minutes weights/plyo/cardio intervals = 350-450 calories

I track what I do, but I am following a programme, so my tracking consists of me writing on a piece of paper on the wall in the garage. I don't track any exercise because I wear a fitbit so I let that do the work for me. Weightlifting is for my body, not for my weight loss.

that's a good way of looking at it...weightlifting is for my body not my weight loss! Thanks! Now I don't feel like it is a loss. Thanks for all your responses, I appreciate it!

I enter the strength exercises through the MFP app just so I can keep track of what my current rep/weight is for each activity. As far as I know, tracking that on MFP doesn't actually add in "exercise calories" but it is handy to have it auto-recall what you last bench pressed, for example.
