A pinch of blue for dinner?

I'm in the mood...
for steamed crabs with Old Bay Seasonings.

I'm clueless how to measure the meat. I've got no patience to pick & measure.
Maybe weigh the before & after, log the difference?

Higher in carbs than you would think. Would log as weight of crab meat. But, YUM! Where are you to have blue crabs? You have to be close to me (south Mississippi, U.S.)

No Way!!! Jersey blue claws are the best!!! <3<3<3
They get to sleep away the winter, deep down in the mud.
Gulf shrimp on the other hand, top notch.

    Yum!!

Weighing before and after is a good plan, it's what I've done with crab legs in the past. Just make sure you hit down the before weights!

Real crab meat is pretty much no-carb, or maybe 1/2 gm carb per 3oz. Imitation crab meat is quite high in carbs.

Gotcha! They look like ours but I imagine your waters are cleaner! Would make crabs better! But yes, I don't think gulf shrimp can be beat! Enjoy!

Crabs all steamed & cooling. The aroma is killing me, drooling is not becoming.
Every time my daughter passes the stash there are fewer legs left.

!! They're blue!! Why are they blue???

They don't grow blue on the west coast... If I saw that on the beach, I'd assume it was diseased.

This is why I don't bother measuring. That's too much work. Instead, I'd make it a challenge to eat every single one. See if I could do it.

LOL... on a more serious and lazy note, in situations like this, I would likely log the whole weight (shell and all) and know I am safely under that amount. If I was serious about extreme accuracy in my logging, I would probably avoid something this difficult to log accurately. I am super lazy. I've logged super-accurately before, but these days I just get super lazy and log nothing or something in the ballpark.

I'm getting lazier about logging too. I tend to guess with foods that I think are close so my dairy looks like I eat he same thing over and over and over... Even more than I do .

Dinner tonight was a tomato sauce with pork, shrimp, onion and pepper with a side of broccoli and cheese sauce which ad cheese, butter, sour cream, nutritional yeast and cream... I don't want to even try to figure it out. Pfft.

I'm a little surprised with the #s. I had 4 good sized crabs.
They weighed 24 ozs including a bowl. After
they weighed 17.8 in the same bowl. For all the work picking
them gals it was only 6.2 oz. meat.
I had a salad with real ranch dressing, they went really good together.

I log carefully. We're still exploring what works with this new WOE.

Yea, I'm getting lazier too. I'd just eat it and let my water fast clear away any indiscretions like that.
