I have two new ones...Kelly Coffey-Meyer's Cardio Pump and Jillian's Killer Arms & Back. And then one I don't remember ever doing...Best Self Fitness Kettlebells The Iron Core Way. So I will be mixing it up starting Monday!

What do you have on your shelf that you plan to pop in you DVD player?

    Group Counseling 101

Part of our Challenge this week is to be mindful of our eating. Have an apples instead of junk food.

Three Ways Apples Can Help You Lose Weight

    from Jenny Sugar

An apple a day may or may not keep the doctor away, but it sure can help you see results on the scale. Make these apple-inspired choices throughout your day and see how this fruit can help you slim down.

    Breakfast: Low-Calorie Swap

Oatmeal for breakfast is an excellent choice. You can sweeten your bowl of oats with maple syrup (one eighth of a cup is 100 calories) or pour on four times as much unsweetened applesauce instead (half a cup contains 51 calories). Make this switch for a whole week of breakfasts, and you'll not only save 343 calories, but you'll also gain 9.1 grams of filling fiber.

Morning or Afternoon Snack: Fill Up on Fiber to Prevent Mindless Snacking

Full of flavor, apples are also great sources of hunger-satiating fiber. Snack on one large apple (with the skin) for 120 calories, and you'll consume 5.5 grams of fiber. The high water content and amazing amount of fiber will keep you full until your next meal, curbing hunger and preventing the temptation to reach for a high-calorie nibble.

    Dessert: Skip the Calorie Bombs

Half a cup of chocolate ice cream contains 250 calories.
Two homemade chocolate chip cookies contain 178 calories.
Half a Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolate Bar contains 300 calories.
Holy calories! After-dinner treats can really add up if you make a habit of indulging every night, so save your calories and enjoy a naturally sweet treat instead. Slice a small apple (80 calories), drizzle it with one tablespoon of honey (64 calories), and sprinkle on cinnamon for a total of 144 calories. Or, remove the core from a raw apple, stuff it with a few chopped walnuts and raisins, drizzle with a touch of maple syrup, pop it in the oven, and enjoy an even more decadent dessert.

What ideas or suggestions do you have? Let's help each other over this hump we all seem to be be tripping on.

    Bwahahahah! Excellent, Paula!

Walked with the boys this morning then went to 1st grade to help out then went to the grocery store to buy raspberries. That's it.

Managed 6.54 miles for 14,283 steps.

Eating is under control. Going to read for a bit then go find my pillow.

Hope everyone had a great Monday.

Paula I will have to view it at home. I am sure it will be inspiring.

Thanks everyone. I had a great day. I ordered four new fish even! So I must set up a quarantine tank for 3 of them. I do not quarantine green mandarin gobys. They rarely can get parasites. And starve to death easily. So she will go in a holding tank to get fattened up for a few weeks. I love getting my own presents. Plus my controller arrived on my birthday. No time to try it out yet though.

Chris I love berries. I see you are still in 1st grade again.

I already eat oatmeal and an Apple most work days. After dinner snacking can be an issue. If I go to bed on time it would leave less snacking time. Or I could spend the time on some more cluttered messes. Hmmmmmmm

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Shelley berries in my morning smoothie! yummmm! No first grade today. We had business to take care of. Missed the kids. Hope your new fish do well. We've gotten our own presents for years now. Much easier.

Walked w/DH and Bean this morning then got on the recumbent then went to our appt.

DDD is reading the the Pigeon books to the kids. I ordered the stuffed Pigeon with a set of cards the kids can match. It came today. I think they will like it. Now I'm ordering the Elephant and the Pig stuffed animals. They'll be here Thursday!! So fun to hear the kids laugh out loud to these crazy stories!

I managed 7.45 miles for 16,272 steps and 45 minutes on the recumbent for 12.0 miles.

I hope you all have a grand Wednesday!

Tennis practice this evening for 90 minutes. No doubt about it my issue is night snacking mostly because I don't sleep. So my latest thing is to get healthy snacks and keep the junk out of the house. I'm a work in progress...and not giving up. Taking a day off from tennis tomorrow and have plans to walk after work with my neighbor.

    Goodnight,

Kathy the first step to solving a problem is knowing it. I know I want chocolate at night. Sometimes I eat those 90-100 calorie fudge bars. Only one though! Nice practice. That is a great burn.

Pigeon books Chris. Never heard of them. They sound fun though.

I bought a new 20 gallon quarantine tank all all the necessary equipment last night. It is mostly ready now for the fish.

I'm with Chris. Pulled the videos down and looked to see which appealed. My belly chose Denis Austin's "Shrink Belly Fat" but my belly doesn't have any fingers and hasn't figured out how to get the DVD in the DVD player yet.

Was wondering why my legs were sore on today's bike ride - probably from last night's TRX squats. Despite soreness, was able to bike all the way up the hill today without getting off to walk - a first!

Does anyone else watch those old movies and wish they lived back then so they could be a mighty warrior and fight monsters (or zombies), or am I just strange. (don't answer that...) The night nibbles are nasty monsters. And we are fighting the noble battle against them.

As Chris says   STRENGTH   - We are mighty!

Good going, Paula! ...on moving your DVDs, TRX squats, biking up the hill none stop, and fighting the night nibbles. My fight is the 'need to crunch something' fight. Doesn't matter...bored, tired, full, empty...mouth needs to crunch something. But the fight continues.

    :#:# STRENGTH :#:#

Walked for a long time this morning then went to 1st grade. The kids won a contest against DDD and got a dance video at the end of the day. It was hysterical! Even the boys were dancing!

Managed 7.39 miles for 16,126 steps.

    See you all tomorrow!

Does anyone else see 'unknown' instead of our names on the main COMMUNITY page? Very strange. It's been that was for the past two days for me.

Anyway...the usual today...walk w/DH and Bean and then off to 1st grade. We are taking tomorrow as a REST DAY.

Today I managed 6.89 miles for 15,053 steps. Hoping to get some bike miles in this weekend. Eating still under control. Glad I don't have any of that stuff in the house because 1st grade was pretty rough this afternoon, and I would have caved if any had been available. I'm over it now.

I hope everyone is doing okay.

The unknown thing has been the same for me, Chris.

And today I dropped my car off and walked to/from work. Didn't get back to sleep last night, so working tired today. Playing sleep-catch-up tonight.

Yes I also see the unknown...weird. Tennis practice yesterday. We had a great 2 hour practice but for some reason the mosquitos were out...I guess because of all the rain we've had lately. Well they ate me up and I thought I felt a sting on my eye. Lo and Behold this morning I wake up with a swollen, runny big eye. Ice and Benadryl...it's a little better all ready.

I'm off today so I am continuing to work on my office...papers and books today. And my sister is coming over to help with my closet. It's her way to shop...she says its like going to Macy's.

You gals are cracking me up with the DVD movement's! :p I also looked at them. Been fish stressing. Will be better when the tank is stocked and fish are healthy. The new female mandarin is really skinny. Time will tell. Not sure she even will survive the trip. :( Two look good, but the pyramid is really stressing. Hope they look better after work.

Kathy I have been noticing them in my house lately. Creepy little guys. Glad your sister is coming over to shop in your Macy's. I love that store. Stay strong and get rid of loads!

Going to clean the table off again. Rocky wants to strip and stain it before thanksgiving. No wise cracks over the stripping Paula and Chris!

My closet is done. I have a very large walk in closet with plenty of shelves and racks that were stuffed with stuff. My sister took home at least 4 bags of clothes including a coat and purse. My niece came over and she took home a couple of bags of clothes. I'm donating 2 bags of clothes and 1 bag of shoes to my neighbors church..they have a Dress for Success program.

It's a little scary because I still have a lot of clothes left and I have 3 more closets to clean out. Absolutely no shopping for now.
In the course of this I got in 10,899 steps for 4.47 miles.

My eye is now half way open and the swelling has gone down considerably.

    Good night,
    Kathy

Shelley...Strip it down, strip it down! You should play that song while Rocky is stripping things! bwahahaahha...sorry! I love the song, tho. I hope your fish do well. We should all sit around the tank and show them how to eat...we could do that because we are pros at it! Pom poms up!

Kathy, glad your bug bite is getting better. Nasty mosquito. Good job on the closet. I have to do mine too. No more need for all the work clothes. Nice donations, too.

Took care of business this morning then went to 1st grade. We have the gym in the morning then walking w/DH and Bean then a party for DDD's best friend's baby's 1st b'day. He's the little guy we watch every once in a while.

Only managed 2.79 miles for 6,084 steps...what a lazy butt!!

Eating was right on! Should work on increasing my water.

Hope you all have a terrific Saturday!

Kathy congratulations on the clutter be gone. And donating is awesome! Sending you a hug. Job well done. Glad you can see a bit more now and look at all those steps. You rocked this day!

Chris I so can not figure out the song you are referring to. Sorry. But yes, it needs done. Rocky was ironing while watching television. Yep, he got into the show and set the iron on the table! Bwahahaha, I so do not let him forget that! Happy first birthday to the little tyke!

    Have a great day.

Is this it, Chris? You can put any words in google and follow it with "lyrics" and "youtube" and it'll find the song(s) with those words in it. Nice song. Not gonna talk about stripping, my brain is in the gutter tonight & can't find a way to keep it PG. :noway:

Shelley, Hope your babies are okay. Fingers & toes crossed. Sorry you can't see zombies and stripper-singers.

Worked till almost seven tonight and then talked with a friend for another long time, so no workout. Going shopping w/DH on Saturday followed by dinner with one of his exes. (How'd I marry a guy who stayed friends with all his exes? ) Anyway, Sunday is hill-hiking with friends. Getting steps and bike revolutions this week but other than a couple swipes at the TRX, not many workouts.

Kathy, a-maz-ing closet cleaning. Super congrats!

It feels so good to collapse at the end of a long day. Wishing you all well! :drinker: Poms up! :drinker:

Paula thanks for showing me the song. And I went and looked up my zombie birthday card. Nicely done. I can see them here at home! Sounds like you had a busy Friday. Hope your Saturday was more relaxing.

Chris turn it down. You are not deaf yet. :p

Ok took the boys for a walk and did a kettlebell DVD. Then cleaned tanks for several hours. There are 5 set up right now. Ridiculous for sure. Worked at lowering the salinity in the 140 gallon. Changed out 15 gallons this morning. Went from 26% to 22% … At this rate it is going to take forever. Going to change out 20 gallons tonight still. Worked on emptying the shelf some more. Took some really nice children's books and floor puzzles to my friend who watches her grand daughters. I made her day. Right up her alley for fun. Also gave her lots of large legos. Planning on hot rubbing later after the water change.

So far 2 of the new fish are doing great. Eating already even. 2 are still hanging in. But neither of those two are eating yet.

Hey guys! Getting ready for the wedding and the relatives visiting. Went and visited future in laws today ( they're wonderful, as is their son) and bought a bigger dining room table for the Thanksgiving crowd. No gym!

Shelley sounds like you had a great Saturday! And you even worked out to an exercise DVD!...I'm very proud of you, and I'm going to post this workout for next week so the rest of us can catch up! Glad your fish are coming along. It was nice of you to pass on the kid's books to your friend.

Walked w/the boys then we frantically got ready for the b'day party because we took so long walking!! Stayed for the baby cake, candle and song then split. There were Togo's sandwiches...lots of Togo's sandwiches...a great pasta salad DDD's BFF made, fruit, veggies, chips, beer, the whole thing!! I had part of 1/2 a sandwich and a bit of the salad. Lesson learned...it didn't keep me full at all, but it was all my cals for lunch. I did okay, but it was a little iffy there for an hour or so.

I managed 6.07 miles for 13,252 steps. No bike.

    Hope everyone has fun tomorrow!
