I'm about 30 days into doing a reduced carb eating plan. I have struggled for so many years to follow the 6 mini meals a day plan that recommends almost 200 carbs a day. I've been doing about half that 80-100 a day. I can't even put into words how much better I feel. I don't crave food all the time. Heck, I even go hours without thinking of food!!!! I have lost 8lbs so far with much more to go. I wish I could get more people to realize carbs are what's making this country obese. Everyone has been supportive, but I know only my fellow low carbers would know just how incredible breaking the addiction to carbs really feels!!! I will eat low carb for the rest of my life!! *Now, Bring me some bacon & eggs*

Great job @fireball1970. I am in about 395 days at this point and feel the same way.

It is not only a Way of Eat but over the last year I have learned so much about why we get cancer and how to prevent and treat it that I would never have had I got interested in being able to walk and talk until my death. Now that I am regaining my health I can help others in the family that show any interest in doing the same.

I never expect to 'arrive' at a full understanding of total health but if I am alive I will be working to that end.

MFP forums really force me to dig deeper on many subjects. Welcome.

It is incredible how changing to this WOE can change you life. I have no desire for the icky looking pastries in the bakery that would have been so hard to resist. I feel better and more energetic. I only tell people about LCHF if they seem generally interested. I have no interest in being browbeaten about how it is unhealthy. I tried CICO for years. I'd struggle to lose a little then get frustrated. I was tired of feeling deprived all the time. All that is gone now. I can't understand why people think that the low fat high carb regimen will work when it hasn't so many times before. When people say they want to "eat healthy" i often wonder what that means.

What many of us come to realize that your Way of Eating isn't only about eating, it's your Way to Health and to a better life.

LCHF Lifer here, OP. You are in the right place. Glad you found us and this lifestyle.

I have tried and failed so many times. I would blame myself and kept saying it was my fault. I just have no willpower. I'm just destined to be fat. It's in my genes (most of my family is overweight) I try not to push it on people either, but I just wish I could have them feel the way I feel for one day & they would be hooked too !!!!

@fireball1970, I share the same frustration as you, with family who you know would benefit from this woe, and they won't even talk about it. The hostility I sense when around certain family members let's me know they are watching. I just lead by example, they can jump in when they are ready! We have all tried to lose weight before, and then regain those precious pounds, plus more, after giving up in frustration. I am a success now! So are you!!! Is wonderful you found this group, just like I did!

@fireball1970 the doctors had set up to start Enbrel injections on Nov. 7, 2014 to manage my joint and muscle pain. August I decided to taper off of sugar and carbs to see if the would take care of my pain because I did not want cancer or the other stuff that could pop up when my immune system was reduced by Enbrel.

I did not taper off so 30 days before my Enbrel injections I finally left all grains and most all forms of sugar. 30 days later my pain dropped from a level of 7-8 to 2-3 and I said NO to Enbrel but the doctors looked at me like I was clueless.

Because I was seriously looking at starting Enbrel I had already started studying non chemo/radiation cancer treatments used in Europe and Asia. Due to cancer in the family I did not stop that research and now have personally tested a few protocols on myself. Now that I know why we get cancer for the most part I no longer fear it but most of my family is still doing the wrong things and and not doing the right things.

Every day I work to better understand how I can eat for better health. Being free from ever 'dieting' again is awesome.

The food pyramid has a lot to be blamed for , it is totally inaccurate. My sister who I KNOW by looking at her that she is allergic to carbs, ( if that is the correct term) she eats healthy not much sugar etc, but she is getting fatter and fatter. She laughed at me when I told her that what was wrong was the carbs in her diet , if she got rid of them she would feel better and in a matter of weeks, ( never mind the weight loss) I hate when I am eating and someone comments, my god your not eating that , why don't you have a sandwich and stop your fad diet. GRRRRRRRR. Bread makes me want more bread, which makes me want pasta , etc. If I don't eat it, I don't want it. I feel so much fitter on low carb, my skin is better , and I sleep better. I will every now and then have a little carbs but no longer will a plate of pasta with a little meat be my meal, it will be a plate of meat with a little veg.
