so I've been low carbing (15g or less)for about 1 week. Had a bad case of sudden onset vertigo nausea and vomiting. Went to the ER labs were good but could this be from low carbing?

Could be if you weren't boosting your sodium intake. You know about the need for extra sodium, right?
Just curious -- did they take your BP in the ER? Hope you're feeling better!0 -
Yea bp was great 120/77. My sodium usually stays pretty high. Breakfast usually consist of some bacon and I enjoy a bag of pork skins a few times a week as well.0

Pretty high? Like 4000-5000mcg? Cuz that's where you need to be, especially in the beginning.0 -
Second what @wabmester and @Sunny said above!!0

I log on average around 2500 but salt everything I eat. I don't really know how to add anymore intake. But I didn't realize the intake needed to be that high.0

There can certainly be other causes, but dizziness or light-headedness is a pretty common symptom for low-carbers, and it's usually due to sodium losses.
Those low-sodium effects are responsible for a lot of issues -- probably one of the biggest compliance issues with low-carb diets.
And, yeah, it's hard to get enough. At your level of carbs, you may need quite a bit. Broth is the go-to for a lot of people -- usually about 1000mg of sodium per serving. But most any soup will do. I keep a jar of pickles always within reach.
The fix is usually pretty quick. A couple of pickles will fix me up in a few minutes, but I don't restrict carbs as much as you do, so you may need more. Eat something salty until you feel better.
If salt still tastes good to you, you probably need more.0 -
I "thought" I was getting sufficient sodium a while back, but I wasn't! I would eat pork skins, daily. I got the pickles, and I salted my food (to taste). Still wasn't enough! I didn't want more food to eat, so I ordered some sodium chloride tablets from Amazon, and as long as I remember them, I'm good. If I forget, it's a night with leg cramps for sure. Oh, and drink the pickle juice (may sound gross to you)!!! I have found that I get a great boost of energy after drinking it! Best of luck to you!0

Pickle juice is out of the question! I can't stand the taste smell or thought of pickles! I could drink some broth and grab some pills though. Thanks guys!0
