Really, really chapped lips?

I've been swimming around 2-3 hours per week in our gym's chlorinated pool, and over the past weeks I've noticed my lips are becoming very sore and chapped. This isn't entirely uncommon during a Wisconsin winter, but the soreness feels akin to an actual chemical burn and even extends a bit into the inside of my lips. So far I've tried Chapstick, Eucerin Lip Therapy, Vasoline Intensive Care, and plain Vasoline (before and after swimming and throughout the day) but nothing really seems to help. I traveled out of state last week and didn't swim, and my lips felt fine again until I swam yesterday.

A Google search of this problem didn't bring up many related results, but surely I'm not the only person who has dealt with this? Help!

I don't have a huge problem with it, but I do use a Burt's Bees plain chapstick before I get in the water. It's kind of waxy (I actually don't like it because it seems to go on thicker than their flavored ones), but maybe that's why it works? Worth a try. They're not cheap, but if it doesn't work for this, throw it in your purse and use it for something else.

Thank you! I tried the Burt's Bees plain chapstick today, and I think it helped. :)
