Hello and thank you for the add to the group!
I am looking to loose around 85 lbs and currently in week one , averaging around 75 g total carbs ( not subtracting fiber).
Would like to know if this still falls under the low carb mission in this group?
Id also like to drop to 50g to see a faster loss , as i was successful with atkins in the past .

yep that's definitely considered low carb. to some low carb is up to as many as 150 grams. going lower on carbs didn't help me lose any faster than staying round 100 grams did. for some though they do need to go lower to reduce all cravings and prevent binging. If 75 is keeping you satisfied now I wouldn't monkey with it too much.0

Thank you so much for your response - strangely i am not experiencing strong cravings or withdrawal with this amt0

then I'd stay with it. I do well anywhere between 50 - 100 if it doesn't all come from sugary stuff. when I start trying to add in cookies and ice cream (kinda where I'm at right now) it gets a little harder for me. but once in a while I don't have any issue even going over 100g. if you do start having cravings make sure you are getting enough fat and protein, also sodium, you will be releasing a lot of water even at 75 grams a day and your electrolytes can get quickly out of balance.0

Do u mind if i ask what ur avg weight loss was weekly?0

this is my chart from that time period last year that I lost most of the weight. not sure if it will help much, I think on the app I can do a screen shot of week by week, the website doesn't give me that breakdown.

I've asked this on another question but just wondering what's a good calorie target goal for someone eating 50 carbs0

It's going to depend on what your goal is. I believe there is a keto macro calculator link floating around here somewhere. I just use the guideline mfp gave me and linked to my fitbit.0 -

I tend to eat 60-80 carbs per day. I definitely loose more weight eating this way. I have not tried to go lower in carbs, since this amount works & im enjoying my menu. Most consider 100 and under in the "low carb" range.0

Here is a macro calculator if you still want it. http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/
I consider anything under 100-150g low carb but 150 g for a sedentary 1200 kcal dieter is quite different than an active arger person or man. There was one member a while back who was eating over 200 g of carbs per day but he did it around 2-4 hour bike rides so they were burned off immediately. I think he even stayed in ketosis.
I'm pretty carb sensitive and not very active so I keep my carbs low.

Thank u so much for the calculator and the welcome0

For the purposes of this group, any person who is intentionally monitoring or restricting their carbs to an amount below what would be "normal" counts as a low carber. Heck, even if someone is just interested in learning more about restricting carbs, they are a low carber. For the most part, we consider the cutoff at "150 grams" or so. But, if someone is looking for help going from 600 grams a day down to 200 grams, they're welcome here.0
