Hi everyone. Well, I'm finally on the other side of this journey after going through this process for about 1.5 years now!! Woo hoo! I'm one week post-op (bypass) and I could use some friends for support! I'm a 35 year old married mom of 3 currently dying of boredom because I can't hardly move (& I am sooo used to not sitting still!!) Lol My highest weight was 368- surgery date I was 266- Today I was 261. I am 5'4. I was required to lose 15% in 6 months per my insurance to qualify and it was extremely stressful for me but I have no regrets and it really helped me learn to eat better before my surgery and also one more pound lost prior to surgery is one less pound to lose after ;-) So please be my friend :-) I'm also on Fitbit under cassybaca@yahoo.com but don't judge my steps this week- obviously been laid up but I love to be competitive and use it religiously other than now! Haha Actually plan to put it back on tomorrow and see what I can accomplish (I'm sure I'll be far from 10k steps this early!).

Congrats on making it through the first week! It sounds like you're doing so well. That's an awesome pre-surgery weight loss btw. I'm in my last month of the pre-surgery diet and I'm struggling to get to my doctors goal weight, but getting closer everyday. I really admire the people on here who were able to lose such a large amount of weight before surgery.
Its great to hear you have no regrets even though the journey has been hard. Keep up the good work and the positive attitude!0 -
Well, I had a lot to start with haha but I definitely looked at the surgery as a tool even before I had it because it definitely kept me focused and working hard prior to surgery because I wanted this surgery so freaking bad! Lol I just want to make sure I can hit my goal weight so losing a lot before helps ensure that will happen. I am determined!!! Lol I've been watching your progress- you're almost there!!0

Hang in there with the boredom! It gets better once you're able to start moving around a bit more.
I'm always open to new friends - feel free to add me if you'd like. I was sleeved on 2/17/15.0 -

The first week after surgery was probably the hardest part for me. Not with pain but boredom and I was so sick of the liquid diet. It gets better every day. Ok some days still feel like crap but it does get better. I was sleeved 11/23/15. I will always accept a friend request. I do my best to check on everybody progress and offer support. I have been debating on getting the fitbit but have not taken that plunge yet.0

Congratulations! Sounds like you're doing very well! I had gastric bypass 11/16/15, and in doing great! The boredom was BAAAD, but as soon as you can start going out and walking, you'll be soooo much happier. Around 1 wk post op, I started going to the mall or walking trails daily with friends or family. Talking and walking and just all of the stimuli are GREAT! Yay colors and noises and shopping! Lol. I'm always open to new friends, and I too love my fitbit. I don't walk a lot throughout my work days, but I do walk 2 miles most morning. If you are interested, I have a website with my weekly blog www.butyouhavesuchaprettyface.com. I find it helpful to read others blogs...it's nice not to feel alone in some experiences.0

Thanks everyone! Went to the dr today and had the barium swallow which made me sicker than a dog and I had to lay down in the dr's office for like an hour with a cool rag on my head! Then they went to remove the drain and its infected and I have a golf ball size abscess or hematoma there! Ugh! That's what is causing me so much stinking pain! Praying the antibiotics clear it up and it can dissolve on its own with another surgery. I just want to be better so I can get back to the gym, etc. Lost 7 pounds this week though (plus the 10 I gained from all the junk they pumped in me lol) so I'm happy about that :-)0

Congrats and welcome to the other side! I know it's boring - I was a not sit still girl either, but word of advice...you had a major surgery be patient and gentle with yourself, even though you may feel ready to go, your insides still need some time - there's a reason they tell you take it easy Maybe ask some family or friends to visit and keep you company to keep you occupied, research new recipes for when you are ready to start eating again or plan out workouts to switch things up as you get bored in the months to come it's an amazing journey! You are well on your way and going to be a great success!0

OP! So sorry for the infected incision! I'm sure it will heal properly, but can be scary! My recommendation for every incision (for everyone, including myself) is "hands off". Don't touch them, unless you have to!. Bacteria (including the bad kind) live under our fingernails and can be transferred to the incision sites through touching, and scratching!
This is why hand washing is vital to our health and prevention of the spread of bacteria!
Gentle hugs! Hope you get healed up quickly! Before you know it you will be allowed to eat less boring foods and this will be a phase that's hard to recall!0 -
Thanks! Yeah I'm vigilant with not touching and washing my hands well! It's still a big lump but the hole is closing up now. Just praying that the infection dissolves now that there's nowhere for it to come out :-/ I'm feeling better and better and am going to attempt to walk a mile today. We'll see!0
