For me it was week one, I understand for many of you its week 2/6/10/200!
======
If every week was like this week, it would be smooth sailing. Experience tells me challenges will come up.
- travel re: work
- poker games with lots of beer/snacks available
- fights with spouse (leads to emotional eating)
- parties/holidays where its hard to eat well and keep exercising
- sick/injuries that seem to deflate the motivation
I also know for me the first week's losses are the biggest, most motivating. But its the GRIND of day after day, week after week where the REAL progress is made. Going out for dinner with friend and sticking to kcal limits, not ordering a beer, avoiding the endless bread/salad/nacho side dishes.
I dug up some old photos of myself where I was in the best shape of my life. HOLY HELL I did not appreciate how healthy, strong and fit I was. I really wish I could go back there and just whisper in my ear... "Steve, you worked SO hard to get here, just keep it up. Maintenance is not as hard as getting there. Don't let it slip away!"... but I did and before I knew it I was back to my old 'normal' self.
So maybe there is a 60 year old version of myself whispering to me right now... encouraging me to write this thru the ether. Steve... don't put things off even one more day. Time flies... grab every day and live it.

I'm week 2 and so far so good. Felt a little bloated and discouraged today but I looked back at my before pictures and I already see changes so that's encouraging. I also wanted to push through what should be a rest day tomorrow so I could use it on the day I go back to my 12 hour shift on Tuesday but my legs are telling me I need that rest day. So I HAVE to make myself work out after my shifts this week and that will be my challenge. I'm physically and mentally drained after work most nights.
Lastly, my MIL made homemade cinnamon rolls today while we were over....UGH. I managed to stay away but it wasn't easy.0 -
ErinKay...Good for you for resisting the cinnamon rolls! 12 hour shifts sound brutal. I've spent a lot of time at the hospital over the last year, and I just don't know how the nurses do it, and always with a smile on their faces. You people are heroes.
I managed to lose more than 2 lbs last week, despite succumbing to the treat cupboard last night. I wish it was a more dramatic loss (it was 4 lbs as of Friday), but it's the right direction! Now I have to stay on course and enjoy the journey as much as I can because as Steve says, time does fly and we need to grab every day and live it.0 -
Susan, even though it said 2lbs, you can bet you didnt eat 7000 kcal of treats... so its water weight, that will come off in a couple days -- so this week's loss will be great :-)
12 hour shifts, with kids -- that is hard. I've worked in my fair share of hospitals too (in a different stage of life), and it can really reek havoc for a balanced healthy life.

Rocking some sore muscles today, so a .6 gain on the scale. My legs feel like jello after yesterday's session.
Tonight is a bit of walking and maybe some yoga to stretch out. Nothing major.0 -
Week 1 was great for me, lost 8 lbs! Week 2 is a bit slower but that's to be expected. I feel so much better already, I'm enjoying to gym a lot and feel a 100% motivated. I'm happy!!! :-)0

You guys are doing so good! ErinKay_RN you're awesome for turning down cinnamon rolls- I've been battling the biscuits at work all week and they're not even that good haha! How is insanity going?
x311Tifa what exercise is your poison? When I'm an achy monkey I crack out the tape measure and ignore the scale.
Back4Good2.. 8lbs!! What?! Well done!
Week (we'll call it) 1 went well for me:
Had a couple of hiccups ( Sunday for example, I didn't log as I went because I was out walking, and ended up going over despite burning a whole bunch of calories. Need to learn to not eyeball it!).
It feels good to be back
I've seen a 2lb loss (only time will tell if this is just a normal fluctuation or if it's a real loss- I've been going from 10st13-11st4 for agggeeesss so hopefully this 10st12 is the real deal!
Been doing well drinking more water- only had a couple of days when I accidentally drank more caffeine than water (oops)
Roll on week 2!
