Random thought of the day...what if insurance companies paid for wellness?

My random thought was at Target today- I spent more than I planned because I NEEDED new pants to wear to the gym, and a armband to wear my phone while I work out. I felt bad about the money that I have spent on fitness lately for awhile. But, then I realized this is an Investment in me, and even buying a gym membership, new workout clothes, 3 water bottles, food scale, and other misc items is STILL much cheaper than 1 visit to the Emergency Room for health problems.
Wouldn't it be great if insurance companies reimbursed for things we buy that improve our lifestyle? It would definitely be cheaper for them in the long run. Or, what if EMPLOYERS did? Wouldn't they benefit by healthier employees and lessening cost of insurance? With all the political talk going on now, wouldn't it be great to hear 1 person with a plan to tackle America's Obsesity Epidemic?
Just my random thought(s) for the day! I would like to hear your thoughts too!

There are actually some that help - I get $125 off on my health insurance for each quarter that I earn enough "wellness" points. (Or if you look at the other way, they increase my premiums if I don't!)

They also offer fitness reimbursement $ for classes and/or equipment, up to $200 per year. Not a ton, but it helps! I also get free wellness coaching. And I like my job. :D

I guess it depends on the size of the company (obviously I work for a large one) and how committed they are to fitness.

Totally look into your insurance or employer wellness programs.
I can get reimbursement up to $300 for fitness club memberships

I work for a large corporation and I take advantage of all the wellness programs but they don't offer gym reimbursement
