A funny surprise

I just ate a tootsie roll midgie (vanilla) and shocked myself by thinking "OMG, that is the sweetest little morsel of chewy sugar ever!" --- I guess that's a side effect of low carb and limiting sugar more. I've also stopped using any type of sweetening agent in my coffee - it's just a small amount of heavy whipping cream and coffee. Funny how tastes change. I am not opposed to sweetening my coffee with stevia or some sugar free syrup stuff, I just ran out and discovered that I didn't mind my coffee with just the cream.

I stopped sweetening my coffee and tea several years ago and now if I accidently get a sweet tea it's like drinking straight syrup! lol0

I can't even drink a diet soda of any kind for this reason. It tastes overwhelmingly sweet and even feels thick... Ewwwwww0

Taste does change with this woe! I used a couple of tbsp of pizza sauce the other evening and it tasted way too sweet! I will be making my own from now on!0

I haven't experienced too sweet yet. I find I enjoy unsweetened food more than most people now but sweet is just still yummy to me. LOL0

It's sort of amazing, really, how it all works.0

I used to hate natural PB. I mean, bought a jar, tried it, and tossed it in the garbage. Since going keto I find it PERFECT, and absolutely love it.0

Yup. When you stop eating HFCS snap peas seem sweet! It's nice to taste food!0

OMGosh, I said that to my husband! I have been eating burgers without the buns for long enough now that the actual words came out, "I can really get all of the flavors of the meat/cheese/toppings so much better without the bun. And it's juicier.
Love this aspect!0 -
Along these lines, this morning I had a pouch of Kirkland Applesauce (11 net carbs; I am trying to keep it around 10 net carbs per meal).
It's the first one I've had since going LCHF and it tasted AMAZING!0 -

One reason changing over to low carb was relatively easy for me is that I've always regarded things like sandwich bread, hamburger buns and pizza crusts as nothing but delivery trucks for the good stuff. At my last job, the cafeteria offered "naked sandwiches" -- a double helping of sandwich fillings on top of lettuce and tomato. I talked some co-workers into trying them and they were very surprised at how much they enjoyed them.0
