Hey everyone!
I've been diagnosed with PCOS for a couple years now and at first just sort of ignored it. I wasn't trying for children and I didn't put much effort into myself. Now I'm trying to get back in control of my life. I want to feel better and healthy and help my body do what it's supposed to do. I feel like losing even a pound is too hard so I'm looking for a support system to help me stay on track.0 -
Hi there! I went through YEARS of symptom after symptom - always treating the symptom rather than looking at the big picture. Finally, after getting a new OB/GYN, we had ANSWERS! PCOS is a daunting diagnosis that always keeps you guessing, monitoring, and worrying.
My husband and I have decided that we will not try for children -- which takes the worry away from me and lets me focus on being healthy. I also have Hashimoto's so I have thyroid issues on top of PCOS. I am so blessed to have an amazingly supportive endocrinology team that helps me wade through the many issues, but WEIGHT continues to be a struggle. Genes are not working in my favor (my father is heavy) - but I'm so done feeling limited because I don't feel well.
And that's really it -- I don't want to be a skinny-minnie, I just want to FEEL GOOD and HEALTHY. I deserve it. My husband deserves it. My family and friends deserve it. My students deserve it.
Over the summer, I lost 30 lbs by being faithful to MyFitnessPal, my Garmin vivofit 2, and changing the way we eat and see food. But the school year set in, flu set in, and 10 lbs came back. Not horrible, but I FEEL it.
I am on a new med with my Metformin -- Tanzeum. A flipping miracle drug. My A1C went from 9.4 to 5.9 in just 4 months! It is a weekly injection, but with NO NAUSEA! That had NOT been my experience before!
So, that's me -- I hope I'm not too late to join. It's so nice to have other ladies who "get it."0
