Interval training is when you alter periods of high intensity activity/exercise with rest periods (reps and sets). During the rest period your body stops moving or works at a very low intensity. In my opinion interval training is very valuable. Its advantages include: easy to measure progress and improvement, easy to see when you aren't trying, improves cardiovascular fitness, improves heart efficiency, saves time, has the ability to burn fat, will help you train for any sport, etc. For me, a disadvantage of interval training is that it can be hard to keep going or can actually be quite boring. However, I think that I will incorporate this type of training in my workout plan for sure.

Interval training is when an athlete will do a physical training consisting of periods of high and low intensity activity. An example of this would be sprinting for a minute, then jogging a minute, and continuing this pattern. I believe that HIIT training is very important and beneficial. It is efficient, it includes no equipment, its good for your heart, and it improves fat lose. HIIT is important for body builders or people with a lot of muscle because you burn fat and not muscle for energy while doing HIIT. Since i am focusing on building muscle and bulking up, and when you do normal cardio you can tap into muscle. Since while doing HIIT it doesn't do that, i will start to incorporate HIIT into my daily workouts.

Interval training consists of alternating periods of intense exercise and light exercise. This form of training is valuable to anyone who wants to burn more calories than they would with their regular workout routine. It increases your aerobic capacity and makes working out a bit more interesting. After learning about the benefits of interval training, I would definitely consider incorporating it into my workout program.

Anna- I could see where interval training would be hard to keep up, but it doesn't seem very boring to me. Also, how would you use it to measure progress and development? You did a good job listing the multiple benefits of this form of exercise.

Ethan-I like how you specifically described why you want to incorporate interval training into your workout program. Good luck with your goals!

Interval training is a kind of training that consists of periods of moderate to high intensity exercises with low intensity activity or a complete rest in between. If you are new to the interval training these routines need to be incorporated gradually so that you avoid injury. Interval training helps you to strengthen your heart and to increase circulation, decrease your chance of getting cholesterol, lowering fat levels as well as your risk of heart disease. I want to incorporate interval training into my workouts because I was to be able to tone up and gain more muscle mass for sports so that I can perform better as well as lessen my risk of injury out on the court or pitch/field.

Anna - YOU CAN DO IT!! It may become boring and it could become hard but you just have to keep going and change it up a bit to keep it interesting. You never know, you could surprise yourself with what you can do.
Hannah - I agree with you that interval training does burn calories and the routines can be used to burn the desired calories to obtain your weight loss goals but it can also be used as a routine to build muscle or to tone up.

Interval training is a specific on and off type form of excersise typically used with cardio vascular workouts. During interval training, one will go hard for a period of time and then go easy. For example, you would bike on level 10 for 2 minutes, then put it up to level 15 for 1 minute. This form of excersise is good for increasing your arobic compacity and building good endurance muscles. If im in the gym, I will ussually start my workouts on the elliptical with 10 to 15 minutes, and this helps me get my heartrate up and my body warmed up

Hannah = I really enjoyed reading your post and it is fun to know that you find it interesting. To me, it can be quite boring, it depends on the person I guess. I would use interval training to measure progress and development - the more reps/sets I do, the better. Just by knowing that I can keep going for a long time/long intervals will tell me that I am developing.
Ian = It was nice to read what you do when you come into the gym and that you gave an example of interval training. Good job.

interval training is a type of training that uses cardio workouts. interval training is important for you to build up stamina and also to tone your whole body. I will incorporate interval training with all of my workouts whether it's leg days, core, or arm days. It's important and it's used as a warm-up before any of your workouts. I usually do it at the starting of my workouts for ten minutes and progressively it gets longer. And then i do cardio again at the end of my workout to make it as a closure.
i've got my sources// workouts on

Interval training is training that uses cardio in your workouts. It's very important for improving your stamina. I think that interval training is very important to everyday workout, because it keeps you in shape in terms of your stamina. Interval training is a way to get your heart rate up. It is when you go hard for a minute and then go easy, it pushed your body past your normal pace and at the same time improves your cardio vascular fitness.

    1) Interval training is a type of physical training that involves a series of low- to high-intensity exercise workouts interspersed with rest or relief periods.[1] The high-intensity periods are typically at or close to anaerobic exercise, while the recovery periods involve activity of lower intensity.[2] Varying the intensity of effort exercises the heart muscle, providing a cardiovascular workout, improving aerobic capacity and permitting the person to exercise for longer and / or more intense levels.[3]Interval training can refer to organization of any cardiovascular workout (e.g., cycling, running, rowing, etc.), and is prominent in training routines for many sports. It is a technique particularly employed by runners, but athletes in many disciplines use this type of training.
    2) It depends on what you are training for. For me it won't be valuable because i am not doing any sports at the moment that require me to do the HIIT.
3)Again, unless i am doing a sport that requires me to do it, i won't incorporate it in my workout program

Ian- Good post and also i like the workouts you put in with it
Sofea- I like your post and also how you will put it in with every single workout

Interval training is a training program with alternating sets of high and low intensity exercises. It is considered to be very valuable because of its fast and effective results: you burn more calories (due to doing exercises with high intensity), you improve aerobic ability, built muscle, and boost your metabolism. It is also very easy to do, as usually no extra equipment is required (you only have to increase the intensity with which you conduct your workout). However, it requires a certain amount of willpower to conduct exercises with this extra intensity, and can cause injuries if you start doing interval training without much preparation. Nevertheless, this routine seems to be very beneficial for those who want to build muscle and burn fat, thus I will definitely be incorporating interval training into my workout to achieve my fitness goals for this semester as it seems to have many valuable benefits.

    1) Hannah: I agree that interval training would definitely be a new and exciting way to change up a workout! I will definitely be incorporating it into my routine for this reason, among others. :)
    2) Sofea: I liked the way you described exactly when and how you will be incorporating interval training into your routine. I am planning on doing something very similar to that by incorporating higher intensity cardio into the beginning and the end of my workout. :)

Interval training is basically going between high and low intensity exercises to maximise your work out. The high and low intensity allows for you to increase the muscles built and calories burnt whilst reducing the amount of time spent exercising. It is both an anaerobic and aerobic training program in which people with not a lot of time but who still want to get a work out in can get what they need. I think this is very valuable and is basically the only type of workouts I do. I rarely spend long periods on the treadmill at the same speed and just hitting the weights passively, because I don't have to work hard. Interval training allows me to hit and build on almost every single muscle in my body whilst getting the sweaty cardio that I need. For example I might do jumprope for one minute (high intensity), and then hit jumping lunges next (lower intensity). For those who don't have access to gym equipment or time this can be a very good way of getting a workout in. My goal was to have total body fitness and interval training is a crucial part in getting there.

@Sofea - I would urge you to make sure and target specific parts of your workouts you want to implement interval training. It can be very useful if used cortrectly.

@Taylor - Totally agree that interval training can lessen the risk of injury in sports because it very much mimicks the conditions of most team sports like (american football or baseball) you may jog or stand around for awhile but will have to then spring into action very quickly.

Interval training basically consists of workouts in which one alternates between periods of high intensity exercise with low intensity exercises, meant to be recovery intervals. It is valuable as it increases fitness and burns more calories over a short period of time compared to maintaining a steady pace while doing cardio. By doing interval training, aerobic capacity will improve, and as cardiovascular fitness improves, one will be able to exercise longer or with more intensity. Additionally, this type of workout increases the flexibility and elasticity of arteries. Lastly it requires no equipment, making it easily practicable anywhere. However it is very challenging and not many can stick to. In my workout, I prefer reaching and keeping a steady pace while exercising. For this reason I do not believe I'll incorporate it. However I might try out an interval training for running as I want to increase my stamina. I'll see if I enjoy it and maybe then add it to my workout plan.

Interval training is training that consists of high and low intensity. Changing intensity from high and low will ensure that you gain stamina over continuous attempts and is even the most preferred method for fat loss. Best examples of interval training are those of HIIT. This type of training is extremely hard but putting in the miles will definitely be worth the results. Interval training is a method of exercise many people don't know about and should use. I might put interval training in my exercise routine throughout the cardio section but I'm still debating.
18ethakran: I like how we both brought up the idea of HIIT workouts and how beneficial they can be towards fat loss.
18dlee: It is very true that it is not required to have equipment for this so you will be just fine, good luck.

It is when you switch between intense exercises and light exercises. For example, running very fast, then brisk walking, if you continue this pattern you will be doing interval training! WOW! It is good for burning fat. Also it activates the muscles and gives them a short period of time to rest, then BOOM muscles are activated again. This sudden change of pace makes the muscles adapt to all sorts of exercise quicker and quicker! I will definitely incorporate interval training inn my workout because I want to be able to do every exercise and make my muscles adapt to the exercise quicker and quicker!!!!!!!!!

Interval training is when you alternate between periods of high intensity exercise and periods of low-intensity recovery. This type of training is useful as it increases your fitness levels and burns more calories over a short period of time than just doing the same thing for the whole time of your workout. I think that since one of my goals is to increase my fitness level and utilize my workout time I will incorporate it, in my workout.
