Hello all! I am a 30 year female, I am 5'3" and as of this am weigh 209 lbs. I have been considering weight loss surgery for quite some time and even started the process four years ago but then got pregnant. Just recently it has really been on my mind again, so yesterday I spoke to my family physician (switched providers not too long ago, so I was a bit nervous), she was supportive during the conversation abd is referring me to the bariatric clinic for a consultation. I am really nervous, but excited to find out more information. Thought I woupd join this group for support and advice. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

I am really leaning towards the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I am just waiting to hear from the bariatric clinic to set up the consultation. I am excited to set that up and discuss my options further and get the physicians input.0 -

I just re-joined the website tonight and this is my first post. I had the sleeve done Jan 7th. I am 5 feet tall and morning of my surgery weighed in at 208. As of today, I am down 16 1/2 pounds! I feel great and am recovering with no digestion issues. I am looking forward to this discussion group as well. Good luck to you!0

Well I got the call from the bariatric clinic and I don't qualify for weight loss surgery at this time since my BMI is under 40 and I have no comorbid conditions. A couple years ago I did qualify but had some second thoughts and started losing weight on my own, apparently I did a better job than I thought! At first I was bummed but am now proud of myself for reducing my weight enough to not qualify and the fact that I am healthy, which some people might not be able to say. Thank you to everyone who responded and offered support!0

Well, maybe it could turn in to a great thing for you. Stay motivated and kick butt!0

Good for you! Much of the work, discipline and advice is the same whether you've had surgery or not.0
