The Lunch Room Glare

I work in an office of mainly women... most of whom are on some kind of "diet" since New Years. The parade of salads and Lean Cuisine's are leaving everyone hungry (as they say it all the time) and therefore, b*tchy.
Enter me... Breakfast, I heat up some bacon and munch an egg. Glares as I walk to my desk and fill the office with the scent of bacon. I keep a FULL FAT heavy whipping cream in the fridge for my coffee... i get glares adding it to my coffee every day!!
Snack - almonds and cheese (lots of cheese). Longing looks from co-workers coming to my desk.
Lunch- egg salad, tuna fish, meatballs and cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese. Glares as they shove lettuce in with no dressing... even more when I do have a salad and drown it in blue cheese dressing!! Even worse when the conversation comes in... "how much have you lost? (low fat eater to me)". I know they hope I say nothing, out comes "Almost ten pounds. You?". Glare, "Half a pound."
More coffee with full fat creamer in the afternoon. Grumble, Grumble, Grumble.
Any one else get this? There is a part of me that want them all to succeed on their respected diets but a part of me, a large actually, can't wait for them to get off this kick and back to eating their normal lunches so i can stop getting glares and get back to my bacon, cheese and egg fest!!

Oh my. I could have written this two years ago. Just ignore them and keep on losing! I got "You're going to drop dead from heart disease eating like that" and "you don't eat ANY fruit???". Had way too many women start some sort of diet the same time I did (January 2, 2014). Most of them have gained weight. I lost 65 pounds!0

Lol. That's funny. I guess mine is opposite. My job offers all three meals daily. EACH MEAL IS HEAVY IN CARBS. I get the glare when I'm throwing away the bread from a meatball sub that they've made or when I eat everything out of the pasta salad, but leave the noodles.
The onsite dietician has everyone thinking that lowering carbs and upping fat is the most HORRIBLE thing you can do.0 -

I got some seriously strange looks today, as I ventured into Walmart for food (a rare outing!). My cart was loaded down with meat, a ridiculous quantity of cheese, a hefty supply of water, and more leafy green veg than a rabbit could eat in a week.0 -
I just bought ten pounds of bacon as it was buy 2, get 3 free so I loaded up. Definitely got some looks from the cashier!!0

HA! I've converted one coworker, and the rest thing we're crazy. Amuses the heck out of me. Yeah, my grocery shopping trips include bacon, MEAT, tons of cheese, heavy cream, sour cream, cream cheese, very little bread (SO is still sugar burner), the occasional soda... But I never seem to get funny looks. My smaller store KNOWS, so they don't say anything. Or they ask for suggestions. Walmart, I don't even think the cashiers pay attention to what they scan... LOL
Buy 2 get 3 free? I don't think I would have stopped at ten pounds, honestly!0 -
My freezer is small or there would have been more lol!!0

Hilarious! I am a guy but I've always worked in offices with a high percentage of women. Ive often been struck by how often people are trying to "be good" and stick to various diets. It's a bit sad, actually. And often it is young women who don't look to me as though they need to lose any weight. I guess the bottom line is that we are a society that is obsessed with food and poor body image.0

LOL. I always liked working/teaching with men. Life was simpler. they let me join their slow pitch team, we went to the pub after school on Fridays, and I could tell non PC jokes.
Hang in there. Maybe offer them a sugar free candy to cheer them up.0 -

I stop at a supermarket with a hot bar most mornings on my way to work and load up on bacon. It's $7.99/lb, but bacon weighs almost nothing. The scale at the grocer is not consistent at all, but this morning I paid 32 cents for five delicious pieces! Sometimes it's a little over a buck. (Can't figure out how that works, but it's usually under a dollar so I never complain.) No one ever glares though--they all do their own thing and don't care what I eat.0

I'm lucky, I work in a small office with my boss and one co worker, both are male. My boss has done every different woe there is, vegan no oil, paleo, no bread, and now I'm not sure what, he said mostly meat so it's not too different from my diet, he does cheat often though, lol. My co-worker is ten years younger than me, can eat whatever he wants, and is currently trying to gain weight so he took my advice and downloaded mfp to log his food. We got to taking about my diet one day since he can see what I bring, often bologna and cheese, fried up in the microwave. His girlfriend talks a bit about how she wants to lose weight but had been struggling with it, it felt good to see him write down what I've done and ask questions like, "so you can really dunk your broccoli in melted butter and eat bacon and still lose, my gf didn't believe me when I told her".0

So here's a twist for you: my emdo's son just got hired as support staff for the local professional soccer team. Apparently, they eat LCHF to keep weight ON. I kid you not.
I suspect it's quite a bit more weight modulating (as opposed to blind loss) than people think. It might be worth your coworker trying it.

Couldn't you just see that being a complete misunderstanding though.
Imagine at some point a coach learned about the endurance benefits of lchf and put the team on the diet but everybody was like "But my carbs!!!" Eventually he just finds it easier to say "Yeah, it's to help them gain/maintain weight" instead of constantly defending the actual reason. Because it would be much much easier for the general public to accept that eating high fat would help put on weight than to accept that athletes don't need high carbs.0
