Trust the process

I run 25-30 miles a week and weight lift 3 days a week for 30-45 mins. I had been keeping my calories around 1600 and as a result was always tired, hungry, and not seeing any progress in my strength, speed, or physique really. I decided to try upping my calories and just jumped up to 2000 calories about 4 weeks ago. Hello bloat and goodbye abs for the first couple weeks But I didn't give up (and that was a really hard mindset to get to at first)and have slowly increased to 2200. I started at 145 pounds, got up to 150, but today weighed in at 142! (I'm 5'7) I feel so much better, am sleeping really well for the first time in a LONG time, and my workouts are great. Plus I get to eat a ton!
I know I can probably continue to increase calories but I'm not really sure how much to increase? I'm trying to not overthink it ha.

This is awesome. I run (not as much as you) and lift 4 days a week. I have been in the 1600 calorie vicious cycle. Figuring out my true TDEE has been really eye opening. I'm not eating quite at my TDEE yet, but I'm easing up there, getting comfortable. It is pretty fantastic to have energy and to be able to eat without feeling like I'm ruining something.0

That is so awesome! way to go to trust in the process...keep trying to increase your calories by 100 cal/day for a week and see if your weight stabilizes....once you keep gaining for 3 weeks or so, you'll know that you're at your TDEE. keep us updated!0

Great result and good attitude. Most of us did add 100 extra per day, per week, so 2100 for a week, then up it till you see real weight gain not just water gains. Check out heybales spreadsheet he did the hard work for many of us, it has really helped a lot of folks here.
Just TDEE Please spreadsheet - better than 5 level TDEE charts.

Thanks for sharing this! I've upped my intake and have to say, the belly pudge was quite disheartening. But you've given me hope that all will be well if I just stick with it0
