Hey all! Sorry I missed the weekend as far as posting on here with you guys! After getting sailing done, had to try to get my normal chores done in two days instead of four. It was a bit overwhelming and I pretty much collapsed each night in exhaustion and didn't do much of anything. Training was a flop too, as I was spending all my time getting other things accomplished. That's life I guess. Starting fresh this week!
Sherry - glad you're leg recovered quickly! I definitely agree that this is a place we all should feel comfortable being honest about ourselves. It's how we are encouraged to keep going!
Marla - Your walks do sound amazing!
Laura - I'm glad your nutrition is starting to work out. Did you find some things that work for you during the run?
So, today is kind of a packed day. I leave on Thursday for Cali for a two day conference and don't come back until Sunday. I found a hiking trail that came highly recommended for single moms or women on their own because there are few people incidents there. A nice quick four mile hike so I'm hoping to do a trail run there a couple times, so I can keep my training going. Also going to do some body weight strength exercises in my hotel room. But even so, I need to squish my bike and swim workouts into the next few days. Promised oldest that she could run with me every Monday. So I'm going to get her up and head out for a very easy jog this morning. But I get to spend some quality time with her and start to t ash her an active lifestyle that's not based on being fast but having fun and getting out there, moving. So it's a win for me!
Because of a church activity that happens on Monday nights, had to move oldest's piano lessons to earlier. She gets out of school at 3:30, have to be at the lessons as 3:45. Takes me 10 minutes to get there, and she takes a while getting out of the school and to the van. So need to get there early, nab her at the door, and run to the van fast so we can make it on time. It will be a bit rushed, but will free up my Monday evenings (except for once a month when I have that church thing). Today is the test run!
Swimming and biking in a brick after dropping kids off at school. Then taking the afternoon to rest up a bit before the craziness with piano. Then I have the evening off. Also, by my calculations, I should be approaching my TOM...which is now all wonky since I don't have a uterus anymore. So either I won't experience anything at all...or I'll got all menopausal on my poor family. Fingers crossed that it's the former!
Have a great day everyone!0 -
All of you are so busy compared to my retired life! lol I get tired just thinking of do all you all do!
Finally got a day of pure sun here. Going for a long walk soon, being lazy this morning just doing a few phone calls.
Went over my state taxes this weekend and found a few errors on it and redid. CA makes you file even if you only were a resident a few months and the part year resident form was so complicated. I know I should just go to someone but that makes me mad that they force you to. One of the great things about living in WA was no state income tax.
Val I guess the sun here in CA will be cool compared to yours unless you are going to LA area, my friends down there said its been in the 80's.

Val, as usual, I'm exhausted just reading your schedule. When I went to my niece's wedding a couple years ago I asked her if there was anywhere good to run near my hotel since I was in the middle of marathon training. The wedding was in Houghton, Michigan and there was a trail that went right past my hotel. I was starting to taper so I had a 10 mile run that day - the first 3 miles were paved and then it turned into a packed dirt trail. It ran parallel to a main road but there were trees so I could hear traffic but not see it. I was worry at 5 miles to have to turn around. I got back just in time to join few of my cousins for breakfast. This was my view as I started:0

Hi all!
Val, good luck with the afternoon school/activity relay. I play that game of trying to rush-rush to maximize evening time everyday. Since the tutor is flexible and we depend on transit, one missed bus (running after it, but too late) can start a domino effect that will shift and wreck my whole evening.
Laura, I now know about slow-losing. In my youth, I could just think, "I should lose five lbs", and a week and a half later I was magically fitting into smaller jeans. Nowadays it's like a death match for every stinking ounce. I'm afraid to weigh just yet bc I feel bloaty, but I think this month will be a good indicator bc the big water weight came off last month, and my activity level has been at a low point. Whatever I manage this month, I should be able to expect, or better, every month.
Marla, idk about anyone else, but I am often envious of your retired life. I don't want to rush my kids growing up, but the alone time sounds deviiiine!
Today Monday kicked my butt and I'm still so far from being caught up. Managed to get to the bottom of my laundry basket though. Drying rack is full, plus sweatshirts drying on clothes hangers. The usual afternoon stuff, plus extra cooking despite having food for reheating, just because stuff was going to go bad if not cooked. Going to tryyyyyy to go t bed early, but gotta get thru bath times first.
Leg felt "pulled" at times today and I had to take it slow, but in the right shoes, it only aches and puls, it doesn't hurt badly like before. Probably if I had slightly higher shoes I'd probably be healed already. It makes a huge difference in healing (as evidenced by the fact that I never healed at all in all those months, until I got higher shoes).0
