Perhaps I am just weird

So I have been lifting for 9 weeks now and I love it. I experience a little DOMS here and there. However, after improving on my squat form last week and this week, I am really feeling the DOMS.

What's weird about it, I HONESTLY LOVE THE FEELING. I like it so much that I actually intentionally move such that I constantly feel it. LOL! I know it's not necessary for gains but it's like a constant reminder all day of the work I did a day or 2 earlier. I wouldn't dream of taking something to suppress the soreness because I just enjoy the feeling. Weird huh?

If there was a like button, I would like this. I get what you are saying. I think it's probably a reminder of you working out. There are weirder things to like I suppose. lol

I feel much better now-- knowing that at least I'm not the only one. :)

I'm weird, too. My 11 year old daughter has been taking a lifting class for middle school kids (it ended last night). She was SO sore the first time she did it that she was starting to cry to me about how it hurt. I turned it around, though, explaining that it's a GOOD pain!! There is a huge difference between pain that is injury and pain that is building you up. By the end of my talk she got it and she never complained again. It just told her to do some stretching to help loosen it up some, so now she does that on her own. Yay!

So true! Even at my age I can tell the difference in good pain versus bad pain. Good pain is DOMS, bad pain is in your joints ligaments or if you suddenly feel a pulled muscle. You learn when to rest very quickly.

I also have a love-hate relationship with DOMS. Love feeling them settle in cuz I know it means I did something that caused changes and all. Not always great to deal with them in certain situation, though. Especially butt DOMS. I don't know why, but those always make me feel uncomfortable. And mid/upper back DOMS make me wish I could not wear a bra for the whole day. I have them now and I'm just uncomfortable no matter what I'm doing :/

I love it too! I don't tend to get them that often/significantly these days, but it's awesome to feel like I've really pushed my muscles.

Yes, I do miss the DOMS because it feels like I'm doing something right. With SL, it's very rare for me to get that feeling especially since I keep de-loading my weights.

Now that I've confessed to loving DOMS, I am having a problem distinguishing this new area of DOMS. For the very first time since starting to squat way below parallel and starting to dealifting 100 lbs, I feels a new feeling in my lower back.

I honestly don't know if it's DOMS or not. It does not hurt but I am aware. I think it feels like soreness but I'm not sure. It first happened last week and it went away after 2 to 3 days. But after lifting again, I feel it again. I don't dislike the feeling but I just wonder why I've never felt my lower back before since starting to lift almost 12 weeks ago.

My question, is it normal to feel your lower back after deadlifting and/or squatting. I am deadlift 78% of my body weight and squatting 60% of my body weight? Again, it does not hurt but more like ... maybe sore? I honestly don't know how to describe it. I actually suspect it will be gone in a day or 2 again but I would like to know if it's normal. I don't want to keep making it happen in case it's a warning of an injury to come.

    Double check your form @DDHFree.

I will certainly check my form. The feeling is already 98% gone. Which still puzzles me.

Giusa, looks like the issue was definitely with my form. Tweaked both the deadlift and squat and no longer having the problem. Thanks!
