i really like this group - supportive (lots of really engaged comment on each others posts), sharing of technique tips and training suggestions, a focus on the positive., I've gained overtime a real sense of each others characters and approach/goals Etc etc
I've dipped my toe into an excercise challlenge thread - which to be fair has helped me (i am trying to replace a sleep every afternoon with a less 'ii'm ill' activity focus). But it sure is not the same as this one...mainly just lots of people listing their latest stats,.
Maybe it is a swimmer thing, maybe we hit lucky with the balance of members?who knows.
But any other groups anyone particularly recommends?

This is my only group so far. I run (once a week...) and I dance (also, once a week) and do bodyweight stuff, so I haven't made the jump to other groups. I'm a bit put off because I don't do those as my primary exercise. Truth be told, I don't do laps as my primary either--I do my water cardio class, but I try to get some laps in before or after that class, and like you said gently, these folks are helpful, supportive, kind, knowledgeable... all good stuff0

I also belong to a cycling group and a triathlon group, which are nice enough, I guess, but the people here just seem to be more friendly and supportive. That seems to be a characteristic of swimmers in general, maybe because we share the same lanes and pools in relatively close proximity, which requires a certain amount of politeness.
'Though, I must say that when I had to join a lane of two swimmers last night, necessitating that we swim in a circle, they were very upset and mouthed curses about the inconvenience at the potential inconvenience of their workout being possibly interrupted. I was surprised at the reaction. The lifeguard put us together because we were all serious swimmers. We only had to circle swim for a couple of hundred yards before another lane opened up, when I gladly moved to get away from this pair.0 -
I also belong to the Monthly Running Challenge Group. Our April challenge has over 280 posts already.0
