I think I have a Date!

I finished my pre op stuff today and called the surgeon's office to report in and the gal asked if I wanted to schedule my pre op for her! I have to do a gallbladder ultrasound and an EKG and labs. She also gave me a tenitive surgery date of April 7!! I was so excited at the beginning of this but now having a possible surgery date, I'm scared out of my mind! All the research and studying I've done has helped, but the "realness" has suddenly hit me. Anybody else go through this? Any words of encouragement besides to just chill and follow the plan?
Thanks in advance!

    Ha! It hit me BIG time! In August I was told I'd probably get a date by late September. The insurance company took their sweet time. I finally got a call mid-September that I could set up a date. At that point it was October 15 or mid-November. Naturally, I picked October, then after hanging up decided I needed more time. I hemmed and hawed and called my parents and let them calm me down and kept the October date. I'm so glad I did. I got things going sooner, and was healed sooner. Second guessing, nerves, fear...it's all natural. You said you've been researching and studying, you set a tentative date. You seem like you know this is right for you. Stay strong and good luck!

    When I got my date I freaked out. I asked if I could move it out two weeks. The nurse said, "nope, you worked hard for this, you are ready." Turned out she was right and I just had a moment. Day of surgery...cool as a cucumber! I only had a week and a half between notification and surgery! However, my prep time was 6 months per insurance. You got this chica!

    The pre-surgery diet was the hardest part of the whole thing for me. Especially the 10-day liquid only diet I was on. Breaking the head hunger was the worst.
    If you are a smoker, break the habit now.
    If you are a caffeine drinker, break the habit now.
    The less habits you have to break at one time, the easier you will have it, and the more successful you will be.

    @countryrose7 .. you got this! I'm still at the beginning stages so I can only say if you've done all your research and jumped through all the insurance hoops, you are ready! :smile:

    @andrde That is great advice!

    I got the call today....I'm APPROVED!! Surgery is scheduled for April 7. Next week is one day of pre op clearance and then I meet with my surgeon and go over details. I'm excited and scared out of my mind at the same time. I know it will be ok, I just have to calm down and trust that I chose the right path for me.

    I know exactly how you feel. When I got the "approved" call I was so excited and then kinda sat back and the realness came rushing in! But you're right, you have to trust that you're doing what is right for you. I just kept telling myself that if I had no doubts over the last 7 months when I was working toward this goal then the nerves I was feeling all of the sudden were just temporary. And for me this was my first surgery ever, so I think that played into why I was scared too.
    Congratulations and remember to give yourself credit for all the hard work you did to get to this point!
