Nice...
For me it's Bragg Creek or Canmore, just west of my city into the foothills and eastern edge of the Rockies. http://www.canmore.com/about_canmore/ sigh.0 -

Floridian born and raised...... When I retire, I'm staying put.
Edit to add - word of caution though...... we crazy down here in the Sunshine State LOL. I mean, pet alligators and our own website and Florida Man subreddit.... It's GREAT!!!

I lived in Sarasota, FL for the last 20 years. I'm too much of a pessimist for all this sunshine and heat. I want the mountains and trees when I retire!0

Not for me. I would dream of a quaint loft in a lush part of a metropolis with weekly maid service and a public park nearby.
I like having a small home. It's an excuse to not have stuff. (I hate the pressure of knick knack ownership).0 -
My dream home would be in the wilderness at least 100 miles from the nearest road or trail. Somewhere that nobody would ever discover me for decades and I could live off of the land and never see another person again (probably). The only place like that in North America is probably somewhere in AK or northern Canada.
Unfortunately, this is totally unrealistic because I have type 1 diabetes. Without insulin, I would die within a few days. It's nice to dream.0
