Hate to be OCD but is this in a place that flooded? Or a Hurricane area? The pic looks like it's taken from a roof, and it looks like the dock is just under water...

It could be a normal lake, but still pretty shallow this close to shore. Or it is shallow all over.

As to the original question, I was actually thinking about that earlier today and was considering making a post. I have done pretty well over the past few weeks eating low carb. I even gave up that shamrock shake I wanted so badly on 3/17. However, my birthday is towards the end of this month and I really want to have a binge day, full carb.

You can see the actual dock plans under the trailer... hence the flooding question.

And given my personal experiences, I recommend a birthday/celebratory MEAL, not a day. An entire day is much harder from which to recover...

www.healthfulpursuit.com does have some great tips for different ways to carb up effectively while on keto, if that's something your health will allow...

Oh, and P.S. Some of the "carby" foods taste as good - and some just DON'T! Chips taste like paste, salsa at restaurants tend to taste like sweetened vinegar.... LOL And such.

It's a bad day at a boat ramp. Every now & then it happens.

I don't think I could satisfy myself with just a single meal... I would need a day. The problem is... while I look forward to having a total cheat day to celebrate my birthday, I don't want to wreck my weight loss. It is amazing that I'm suddenly losing so fast with the same number of calories, and different macros, compared to when I ate carbs. I don't want to ruin that, and I worry about how much damage a single day will do.

Also, I plan a trip in May that will involve a lot of driving and a lot of hiking. For simplicity and for blood sugar regulation while hiking, I will probably be consuming a fair number of carbs, but I'll be burning that BG spike right away.

I'll tell you - after my time off at the holidays, I broke my metabolism all over again. I'm still not really losing weight again, though I'm enjoying the other benefits.

As long as you're aware that you'll need to build in some recovery time, just make sure you have a specific plan for timing and how exactly to get back on track, and you should be okay. I did a week off at Thanksgiving, and it wasn't nearly as bad as after Xmas...but that would a double whammy, I think...or worse.
