I'm sure it's been asked a million times.... What vitamin do you take and what is each one for..?? On this Diet I have notice some changes in me and being a person that knows nothing about vitamins much less ever taken any until now, I am curious as to what other people take and why... Here is mine.
Magnesium - to help me go to the bath room..
Hair, skin and nails - (for the biotin) to help with hair loss I noticed 5 months in
I know I need more so I'm trying to find out what to take and why I should take it. Any tips would also be great!!! Thanks everyone!

Your diary is closed, but this is often an indication of too much protein to not quite enough fat, or too much insoluble fiber, assuming you're actually constipated (peruse the latest couple of pages of "All Discussions," there are several that matter). While taking magnesium is good for a number of reasons, it's not a good idea to depend on anything for "bathroom help," and you may not even actually need it for that purpose.Hair, skin and nails - (for the biotin) to help with hair loss I noticed 5 months in
Try eating more. Your profile mentions that you average a 2lb per week loss. This, combined with the hair loss is indicative of not eating enough in general.I know I need more so I'm trying to find out what to take and why I should take it.
Why do you "know" you need more? Unless you're living on Atkins bars, this way of eating is nutritionally complete. You're actually arguably getting better nutrition than you were in the past, due to the reduced amount of absorption-blocking issues, inflammation, and increased fat intake, among other things. Keep in mind that most of the micronutrient stats are optional on nutrition information, so just because it's not listed, it doesn't mean it's not in the food you're eating.
That said, the common supplements are the electrolytes (namely, sodium and magnesium), Vitamin D, and Vitamin K2. This is because these are the most likely to be deficient, and K2 (which is relatively rare) augments Vitamin D absorption.0 -
Basics:
Vitamin K2
Vitamin D3
Salmon Oil
Zinc
Magnesium
Vitamin C complex
_____
BCAA + Glutamine for when I fast
Creatine for when I go hard. (Everyday.)0 -
I must confess I somehow fell out of the vitamin habit a couple of months ago so right now I don't take anything except apple cider vinegar in the mornings and an electrolyte supplement when I workout. I feel good so I figure it's not hurting me too bad. I do need to start back on my Vitamin D as I was deficient in the past and my K2. I used to take krill oil which couldn't hurt to add back either.
I don't have any unusual hair loss (of course I have always shed badly) or symptoms of electrolytes being out of balance at the moment despite not taking anything.0 -
Not loosing 2lbs anymore sorry haven't updated lately, I feel like I need more seeing how many some people take and when I noticed the hair loss it freaked me out.
I know fiber is an issue for me but I e alway had a problem with going to bath room even as a child.
I eat 1300-1400 cals a day no exercise to need more. I get between 70-75% (90-120 g) I was eating 50-60 protein but have upped to 70g the last few weeks.
Never heard if k2, told u I knew nothing of vitamins lol0 -
@ettaterrell I just heard about Vit K2 (not K1) last year.
Vit D does many things I guess but one thing is to move calcium into the body. Vit K2 is thought to tell Vit D where to send the calcium. Vit D will move it to like arteries and heart valves without enough Vit K2 instead of to the teeth and bones at least in theory.
I have seen one mouse study where Vit D and K2 reduced artery blockage in as little as 6 weeks. Google will give you a lot of reading options.0 -
Wow thanks!0

The supplements that I use are more of a "bio-hacking" effort than a "need" based one.
1Tbs MCT for appetite control and ketone boost for ADHD
Ginkgo Biloba leaf extract (a pinch in my coffee) for ADHD
Hydrolyzed Collagen (bovine) 1Tbs in my coffee or water once or twice a day as I think of it. For skin, anti-aging and firming. I think it's working.... Either that or my 6-7 months with only 2 pounds lost was spent on skin maintenance, but I've just realized my belly is looking better. Long way to go though.
Magnesium Carbonate 700-1000mg as needed split into two doses. For the over 300 enzymatic processes the body needs it for.
Ascorbic Acid (Vit C) 8000-10000mg a day split into two or 3 doses. For a ninja like immune system.
Highest dose I can find Krill or fish oil when krill is too expensive for brain benefits (ADHD)0 -
Ohh I'm all over the skin vit.. Lol thanks girl0

@Sunny_Bunny_ I just purchased some of that collagen and I've drank it in plain water a few times. I mean to take it daily but I'm so very forgetful. I was using for my joints but I would love if my skin looked better!0

I don't have any joint issues but I know it's great for that too.
I sometimes mix it with my Magnesium and Vit C water that I drink twice a day.0 -
Can u get at walmart?0

I use gelatin nearly everyday. The American brand I see recommended most is Land of lakes gelatin.
Don't buy just any old Gelatin off the supermarket shelf, as you have no idea where the cows come from or what they have eaten, or what hormones they've been pumped with etc etc0 -
I bought mine from Amazon. Brand is Bulk Supplements.0

I take magnesium and that's about it. Most people don't need a multi vitamin and they are poorly absorbed anyway. I wouldn't worry about it.0
