Jill in Michaels 30 day shred

I'm planning on following this plan along with a LFHC diet.

It's only 30 minutes for 30 days and will hopefully get me into exercise mode. They do say 21 is the magic number when it comes to developing a habit.

Anyone done this while eating LCHF? Any tips? Or does anyone wish to join me?

I've done it, but it wasn't while I was LC - it's hard, but it's a really good workout :)
I would join you, but I'm all set in my exercise plans for now - in a groove, ya know. Good luck!

LCHF shouldn't affect your performance with this particular workout -- hit it hard and have fun!

Love Jillian! Don't worry if you're overwhelmed at first. You get stronger and stronger.

Yes. In the beginning of my journey I started it.
I logged that workout series as "Jillian Michaels is Trying to Kill Me."
I recommend taking rest days. If you are coming from a beginner-fitness place, you will be sore after a few days. Been there and was forced to take some rest days. If you take 2 rest days per week you're more likely to actually finish the program.

Thanks all for the encouragement and advice. I have also heard you should take measurements and photos, ad weight loss is not always the result, but instead you lose inches. Planning on starting Monday ☺

I haven't done it for a while, and I wasn't on LC when I did, but I will say I loved it. It's HARD, but I felt amazing and so proud of myself after each workout. I sprained my ankle about 1.5 weeks into doing it (every other day) though and never got back on the workout train afterward. It's probably what I'll go back to as soon as I start focusing more on activity.

I am so lazy all I can think of reading this is "ugh! That sounds terrible"!
And about making jokes about how I'll do my own 30 day shred. With some kind of shredded cheese pun.

I'm working on Jillian Michaels BodyShred. We could work together as we progress with our JM workouts if you are interested. With this DVD program you take one day off a week, with four days the regular workout and two days as her cardio workout. Best wishes to you :) ~ Elizabeth Maryam

I made it sound like I hated it maybe? It's a good program. It's just a bit much for beginners, as in "this is my first workout in 2 years."
I like Jillian. It's just a tad hard for a real beginner. An intermediate beginner might do ok with the modifications. I'm on the intermediate level (1st Class) of YAYOG (You Are Your Own Gym-bodyweight strength training,) and we just moved up to 5 workouts/week. We were doing only 4/week up until week 7. Point being, you shouldn't do it 7 straight days.
Muscles need rest. Otherwise, you'll be miserable and quit or get injured and be forced to quit.
Just trying to look out for anyone who's looking to start it.

yeah, some of Jillian's other programs work different muscles different days, so you can actually work out 6 days a week, but I have a soft spot in my heart (on on my head, maybe) for 30 DS.

@Sunny_Bunny_ I will gladly join you on the 30 day shred(ded cheese) workout anytime. Needless to say we will have great definition in our forearms at the end of the trial period...

Yeah, I've done it, or at least started it. These are not easy workouts! I generally work out fasting- it never made a difference if or what I ate. Like @baconslave said, Jillian Michaels IS trying to kill me.

I am actually doing it right now. I am on Level 2 day 3, I have done it before, but never on LCHF. I don't feel it has affected my workout at all.

Some tips though that I really recommend:

The way it works you do 10 days level 1, 10 days level 2, etc. No rest days. I recommend doing either 5 days and having one off or two days off, you will be SORE but good sore ;) it may take longer than 30 days, but it's okay.

If a true beginner there is a modifier, but even the modifier is really hard. I recommend just marching in place when it gets too hard. You will work up to it.

In the warm up there's Jumping Jack's which I hate because your body is not really warmed up. So it's a good idea to do a a warm up before the video or while she is talking and introducing the crew. Just a simple March or moving side to side. I love, love, love this DVD although I really want to kill Jillian, but it's one of my faves!

@mormas, I have my weights, mat and bottle of Advil right next to the TV and ready to go! I plan to start as soon as the fam leaves for school/work.

I did about half of it, L2D5, and then got bored with the same workout every single day. I still incorportate the workout once or twice a week in my routine, but I find that it gets monotonous, even though it really is a fantastic workout! good luck!

What I have done in the past is alternate the 30DS with another 1 or 2 of her videos. They aren't expensive on Amazon. Like 6-pack Abs. Or No More Trouble Zones. I may go back and do that later. I quit at about the same time as you for the same reason last time. BORED.

I did it last year (also before i started LCHF) and I did it differently, I did it every other day with 1 or 2 rest days a week, the other days, I ran. I also cycled through the levels eg, Mon level 1, Tues run, weds level 2, Thurs run, Fri level 3, sat run, sun rest. It worked brilliantly so I didn't get bored or too sore and I lost weight while doing it.
I think jillian said something online about she hadn't intended for it to be done for 30 days consecutively and that rest days were needed, it's just called 30ds because you do 10 days of each level.
I think I might start again in a couple of weeks, either that or YAYOG.
