Endometriosis Sufferers? Severe Dysmenorrhea?

Has this topic been brought up already? Any improvements with LCHF? I'm on month two and I don't know if it's a coincidence but my cycle is now painful more often than it was before ???

Following this for sure; I'm going to the GYN on 4/4 because endometriosis is our top suspect for why my PMS and periods have become so debilitating with back pain. It's only been super awful since about October, and I started LC in May 2015 - but I started out then at 100g total carbs as my limit. I started eating fewer and fewer carbs as time went on and my October period correlates with having switched my goal to a more keto level of carbs (35 total was my goal although my average total was closer to 50... the more I stick to my lower goal the more painful they seem to be!) so I am definitely curious as well.

In addition to the dramatic increase in pain, my cycle has gone way out of whack - I imagine some of it is due to my age (38) but since switching to 100g carbs or fewer in May 2015 I've had 15 cycles (so unfair!!!! haha), with 9 of those in the last 5 months since switching to keto - and since May 2015 they have ranged anywhere from 10 to 45 days in length. Prior to any sort of low carb eating, that they were consistently 25-27 days.

I never realized till recently that my horrendous periods coincided with my diet change. I've had ultrasounds, CT Scan, there's nothing going on inside except for some small fibroids and I'm peri menopausal. I went 86 days between cycles but got pms every 28 dYs. Very strange. Obgyn told me not to worry unless periods get closer together.

Well, I went to the gyn today and came away with the scheduler working on getting me a spot in the hospital for a hysterectomy!!!!!!! Holy smoke that happened fast. He said my diet has probably a little to do with it but not much that it has more to do with family history, my lovely genes and my age. wow.

Really sorry to hear that @Phrick though I hope you at least benefit from some much needed relief after you recuperate. I wish you all the best.

Also to note.... if you have lost weight fairly quickly by switching to LCHF, the hormones that had been stored in your fat will be flooding your body and throw things out of whack for a bit.

I'm looking at this also - things have definitely shifted and I'm 46 so likely in peri-menopause. I'm researching estrogen dominance and given its link to pcos...I'm contemplating seeing a holistic nutritionist to find natural ways to balance hormones before the real fun starts.

@ambergem1969 Look into therapeutic levels of Inositol (B8) and the supplement Vitex for balancing out estrogen dominance (as well as balancing the other direction, too)...

I didn't realize the Inositol helped estrogen balance too! I've been taking it @Knitormiss since your recommendation, almost a year ago for headaches. This is likely why I'm experiencing less endo pain! Double benefit I didn't even realize!

Good luck @Phrick ! Will be sending positive thoughts your way!!

Oh, and ladies (@ambergem1969 and @karlottap), the Boron deficiency document covers a lot on peri-menopause and menopause actually continuing female hormone production (and improving it, too)... I think Boron is the next thing we'll hear so much about as we finally are about magnesium now (especially since they are interrelated). It manages cellular wall integrity and such.

Specifically look for the part about "Osteoporosis and Sex Hormones..."

Thank you @Knitormiss! I've ordered me some boron supplements! I want to save my bones from the effects of menopause, so what can it hurt to try?!
