Lol there have been conversations about this in the past. I know I have had a noticeable increase in my sex drive, as have others.0

Oh thank god you replied, lol - I felt very weird posting this but I had to ask as i've noticed significant changes in the last couple of days and couldn't pinpoint it to anything but my eating (nothing else has changed!)1 -
Yes I asked about it back when I started too. A lot of people mentioned a link to the increased fat intake and the effect lc can have on balancing hormones. You're not alone.1
-
Thank you - not that i'm complaining.. lol just never experienced it before. And i'm in Ketosis so I am taking in loads of fat. I may do some more reading on this x0
-
It seemed to level out a little for me. In the beginning it was crazy, I had tons of energy too. My sex drive is still much higher than it was before lc though.0

When I was cutting hard in September my fat intake was pretty low. Around 20g per day. Sometimes under. I completely lost my libido. It was embarrassing.
I'm cutting again now and the same thing started happening with my fats and I don't want to go through this again. I just started upping my fats and lowering carbs this week and well...I feel great2 -
I agree with the article and have experienced better since Keto.
But could it be the weight loss instead? (I've lost around 100 lbs.) I lost all my libido when I weighed over 300. Had to use popular pills to have sex. Now, I don't use any meds.

Burning fat during weight loss will release the stored hormones in the fat cell, creating this phenomenon. It's real! It does, usually, level out over time! Good for fat burning!1

Fat is an essential building block for the body to produce testosterone. Yes, women need it too for higher sex drive1

Wow - it's really great to hear all these comments. Another positive to being low carb!0

I totally think weight loss is a major contribution to it, and I have experienced that before through just feeling better about myself.. so 100lb must have felt amazing for you - but yeah I do think there's definitely something else to it.. i've only lost 6lb... nowhere near enough to have that kind of impact! lol0 -

Weight loss has something to do with it probably, and I did experience that when I was getting toward a healthy weight range. Getting lean and trying to drop below 20% bf did nothing for my sex drive though. I gained weight this winter and it came back more. Interesting.0 -
This seems like a good place to leave this: https://www.bulletproofexec.com/get-some-ice-cream/
It sounds awesome, but I haven't made it yet.1 -

I'm totally trying this. We have been unsuccessfully ttc for almost a year now. I'll try anything, especially ice cream.0 -

Good luck!1 -
Interesting! I have really noticed a change but it can't be because of weight loss yet as I only just started eating Keto. I am showing ketones on the Keto strips though. I think for me carbs really act as a downer and cutting them out means more energy, better mood and no bloating with are all good things for feeling up to sexy times0

I have considered this too. It goes along with my personal experience It may be related to the fact that cholesterol is a precursor to many hormones, including sex hormones... as is Vitamin D, which is a fat soluble hormone that the most Americans are deficient in. We also know that low carb is a good treatment for PCOS, a disorder with elevated insulin levels, infertility, and disrupted sex hormones.1
-
Hmmm cool, I did not know that about the benefit to those with pcos. I just made a post (finally figured it out!) about my experience with menopause which is again a hormonal physical transition.1

For me the lack of belly bloat after a meal now has caused significant improvements to my sex drive, not to mention the fact that my improved mood and general feeling good about my weight loss certainly helps in that department.1
-
Yep definitely noticed this ☺️0
-
I didn't realise it was so common.. but I've spent years steering clear of high fat anything so that's probably why. I was always pretty happy with my feelings about that department but 2 medications that BOTH lower libido for years really took their toll. Talk about not interested, I barely even thought about it for a good while. Even though when I was slim, I felt more attractive - but once I was on those pills, all desire went out the window. For the last few days I realised that it was on my mind quite a bit - just felt more "passionate" in general, lol. It dawned on me that I hadn't felt that way in ages... my lifestyle is the same, my pills are the same.. The eating has been different for 12 days... so there ya go!!0
-
when I first started the journey in 2010ish yes I had a significant increase. Totally. But due to pregnancy and nursing and mommyhood it's low again0
-
Well I'm on the lower end of the pole because mine has stopped.. It has gotten so bad I asked my doctor about it and he just said age. :::rolling eyes:::: that's his answer for everything lol. I do think how ever it did up it in the beginning a little but I was always on the high end now in on the lowest end lol0

@etta, try this:

I take it for energy, one of many things it's good for; however, within 2-3 days of taking it and I've only been taking it for a couple of months now), I noticed an unexpected uptick in my libido. Pre LCHF, my libido was always low to non-existent partly because I was SO overweight (300 pounds at my highest), and partly because I did try to stick to low and/or non-fat products (UGH)! After going LCHF, I did notice an increase in my libido as well.0 -
I don't necessarily notice a higher sex drive, but I definitely do notice a more stable sex drive. That is, I have a pretty steady frequency of desire, rather than going months and months with no sexual interest, followed by major sex drive spikes. I account it to hormonal regulation.1

I used to be a bit like that before I went on the pill actually.. can't remember life before AntiD's.. but soon as I took the pill it disappeared - completely... I guess there's no better contraception than that hey!!0 -
Actually mine seems lower, but I also must take into consideration increased stress - family caregiver role, menopausal hormone changes. I don't think my food choices make much difference in my case. I feel the other things have more bearing. Also my DH is starting to get a spare tire and it does affect my interest, as shallow as that sounds.0
