Taking measurements when you are squishy

This is a little TMI, but heck, I'm figuring we are all dealing with this issue!

Today is my 5 month mark since surgery, and I'm really pleased at the progress - 71 pounds since surgery, 101 pounds since I started trying to get healthy. I'm thrilled! But it's left me with a lot of loose skin everywhere, mostly around my stomach but also the 'bat wing' arms, etc.

It's making measurements really hard, because when I wear clothes it naturally compresses all of that squishiness. For example, I comfortably fit in a size 14/16 or 16 top now. For the brands I buy, this equates to a 41-42" breast measurement. Yet when I measure at home, I get 44". For pants, I am comfortably wearing a size 16 or 16/18 pants, which again in my brands translates to a 35" waist. Yet at home -- thanks to the squishy tummy - I get 39".

I realize I'm not being graded here - this is all just for me - but I'm a little OCD about these things. How do other people handle this issue?

I wish I had a good answer for you, but I'm struggling with it myself. The hardest thing is tops because I have absolutely NO IDEA how my breasts will measure. I think the difference there is going to get fitted with new bras so I have a definitive new size instead of the guess work/poor man's measurements I've been doing at home. It's frustrating because like you said, everything squishes.
