Any other ideas to get more protein? I don't eat much meat, though I'm not a vegetarian. I end up with too many carbs in the macro breakdown of my diet. I don't eat bread, crackers, only occasionally pasta. But I eat root vegetables, beans, rice, nuts etc which I think are considered carbs.. I'd appreciate home made suggestions (not supplrments)
for upping my protein intake. I do eat eggs, but not every day, and some dairy. Thanks!1 -
Quinoa is a high protein food, or beans, tofu, eggs, cheese, fish, chicken, nuts, chickpeas, yogurt, soya milk.0

I find that planning what you are going to be introducing to your diet is very important to get enough protein. I am the same, do not eat a lot of meat and have decided to go mostly pescetarian, and only eating protein from sustainable sources. I have been able to eat somewhere between 120 and 140 grms of protein daily by doing what I call "layering". I have increased my egg intake by having hard boiled eggs on hand, bringing a dozen eggs to work (I can cook at work) for omelette that I make with cheese (layering more protein - you could include some lean turkey, etc, to the omelete). I also eat Hemp Hearts (shelled, non GMO) and they bring an incredible 10grm for every 3 tbsp - I sprinkle them in salads and definitely include them in my smoothies.
I love cottage cheese so that's my go to for protein - and I have it at work as well - I can make a "cheat caprese" salad by getting some tomatoes, basil, and pink salt and it is delicious. reduce your carbs intake by increasing your protein quantities... It is really working for me - Good luck

I love using egg whites to get my protein -- a favorite dish cauliflower rice, shaved Brussels sprouts with egg whites, cooked together in microwave or in skillet -- lovely. I would eat whole eggs, but my calorie macro is 1500 to 1600 so egg whites help me stick to that. I also like cottage cheese, fish, turkey slices.2
