Snack Triggers

I have a terrible problem with my tongue.
I have a difficult time telling my body not to eat because my silly tongue is always looking for a salty snack, even though my belly is full.
Anyone else have this problem.

My tongue behaves itself, it's the voices in my head that I struggle with lol. I have practically no starchy carbs in the house that would hold any sway over me and I have a strict "no junky snack food in the house" rule. But my husband has frosted flakes for breakfast everyday and I'm not going to tell him he can't have breakfast. And in general, I have no interest in cereal. I would never eat it for breakfast and if it wasn't a sugary and sweet cereal, it would never appeal to me as a snack. For some reason last night the voices in my head were screaming at me to have a tiny bowl of cereal. And they just wouldn't drop it. I'd think I had them silenced and they'd just start back up again. They tried telling me a tiny bowl would be okay. Problem is, like most gateway drugs, a tiny bowl could easily turn into me running to the store and buying all the junk food in sight. I don't know how, but I managed to resist. And I lost another kg this morning, so I'm glad I did.3 -
I like to have a cup of coffee or tea or broth if I'm getting false hunger signals. For me, getting something warm in my belly is satisfying and can kick that false signal to the curb.
I would avoid adding any artificial sweeteners to it if you can because I feel like they too often just create more false hunger signals and that would be counter productive.1 -

Another good tip. I usually stay away from caffeine after 9am and sip beef broth instead. It's salty and comfort food all in one.0 -
When I crave salty I eat nice crispy bacon ... but then again that's my answer to a lot of 'cravings'
@PaleoInScotland Congrats on the weight loss and the will power.3 -
Okay folks, I should know this by now but what kind of beef broth are you guys drinking? Buillon cube in hot water? Something more special? I haven't done this yet because the thought of it didn't sound appealing, but my snackiness is getting the best of me lately.0

@kimmydear I use bouillon ... but pump it up to BP with (any or all of) butter, MCT oil, collagen and magnesium citrate powder. That gets my extra sodium in and fills me up nicely0

I recently discovered the joy of fried pork skins (chicharonnes), which I dip into a full fat sour cream mix as a snack. Salty and crunchy, extremely satisfying!!2

If you're craving salt, you may need salt. Just make it low carb. Soup, pork rinds, or PICKLES.0

I always used boullion. I just recently made my first batch of beef bone broth and there's no doubt it's a better option, but just use what you've got. Don't stress too much about it. You can always get into making broth when it's convenient. Or not. Either way.0 -
I'll just eat a little bit of salt. Truffle salt is my favorite0
