Made this with some leftover breakfast sausage last night. A great idea! I love how versatile this can be,
I brought one to work with a "salad" for lunch.

@DittoDan mince meat is the same as ground meat in America. It's meat that has gone through a grinder. Minced pork / ground pork it's the same

The only thing that is tricky here is mincemeat pies (often just labelled mince pies) it's actually chopped up pieces of dried fruit in a thick spiced sauce, inside a pie, served around xmas. It confused me so much as a child, I was convinced there was meat in there and i didn't want to eat it mixed with fruit lol.

So mince meat is hamburger meat (if beef)? Would sausage be like minced pork?

Yea, we had the mince meat pies and as a kid, I never figured it out either... to make matters worse, I asked my parents what kind of animal/meat it was, and they said in was a little critter called a mince... but they never showed us a picture of it, we were dumbfounded. My dad said he was going to take me "mince" hunting, but never did...

We didn't have the luxury of looking it up on the internet. The only kind of computer we had when I grew up, was some sticks and rocks. :noway:

(off to look up mince on Google)...

@PaleoInScotland Did you guys have "fruit cake" at Christmas? Probably not, I think that was an American only food...but not sure...

@dittodan yep, mince meat would be ground beef. Minced pork though isn't really like sausage, it's like plain ground pork, which is really quite dry and flavourless imo. Sausage meat is much yummier, but of course it'll generally have some carbs in it.

We definitely had fruit cake! Even after we moved to America my mom still made a fruitcake every Autumn and let it age in the cupboard until Christmas, then she coated it in a layer of marzipan and a layer of icing. I bought one from the store my first year back in the UK so my husband could have the traditional British Christmas experience.

Your mince hunting adventure reminds me of this haggis hunting video lol

How many days ago did I declare that I was making Scotch Eggs - and I still haven't managed yet! I'm beginning to t think the sausage I thawed is going to be bad before I get around to it. Maybe tonight's supper...

Mine are in the oven! I used a spicy Italian sausage from our local butcher. They can't get done soon enough.

Made mine last night with sausage from Spolumbo's. (Chicken Apple). Doesn't sound awesome but they are! Perfect for breakfast.

Thanks for reminding me about them a few weeks back.

I am making these to take to a picnic today. I like the thing that @Phrick did and cooked them in a muffin tin.

I used the muffin tin and made 6. 1 for lunch, 1 for my boyfriend, and 4 leftovers! Excited!
