Hi everyone! Today I began taking collagen hydrolysate. I am hoping it will help with my arthritis. I have both osteoarthritis and auto immune arthritis. Since I embraced LCHF about 6 months ago, I have noticed improvements with the autoimmune arthritis and am hoping to achieve some improvement with the other. As this community has been so helpful to me along this journey, I am hoping some of you may have some experience using this supplement and would be willing to share your thoughts in it. I hope everyone is enjoying a sunny day like we are in Upstate NY.

I don't have experience but would love to know other's as well. Rowdy has horrible arthritis in his elbows and works with his arms as a welder all day...I'd love any tricks to help relieve his pain!

As long as your arthritis isn't rheumatoid (don't know if the AI is), you can try hyaluronic acid as a supplement. It essentially works by holding in extra moisture in the cartilage and such in the joints, but it can make RA hurt worse. For me it was crazy, because it helped my knee pain, but it hurt my wrist pain, so I ended up stopping the supplement.

Since DE (diatomaceous earth) helps with hair growth due to silica and such, I wonder if anyone has done research into whether it will help joint stuff, too??

I use it a protein supplement (it's not a complete protein, though, so shouldn't be your only source) and as a substitute for bone-broth when I'm traveling or don't have any on hand. The gelatin helps calm my stomach/ gut quite a bit if I have a flare of symptoms due to eating something I react to. Specifically, it helps the joint inflammation I get as a reaction to tomatoes, wheat, almond, etc. (I follow the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol, an elimination diet that helps identify foods that trigger symptoms).

It's pretty tasteless and dissolves well. I use the Great Lakes brand (green can) and order from Amazon. It won't hurt you, and certainly may help. It might hurt your pocketbook, but I've spent money on far stupider things!

I'd recommend weighing it, rather than using measuring spoons. The volume can change significantly, it must settle pretty quickly.

Is this the kind of collagen that helps with skin elastcity? Would really like help with that. A lot of flapping skin here.

Yes, specifically collagen hydrolysate does help with skin elasticity issues.
