Carb hangover?

Would the one higher carb meal I had yesterday make me feel hung over today? I'm shaky, have a headache, my head feels heavy, like I was drugged or something... I slept like the dead last night and struggled to wake up at 2 pm, despite all the noise at the neighbors (NOT normal for me!!)... Very fatigued still. Felt STARVED this morning after three weeks of very little hunger... Me no like! I much prefer feeling energetic like I was the last couple weeks. My net carbs were only over by 2 yesterday, but almost all of them were in one meal, when normally I stretch them out over the day...
Now... I do have a new head cold right now too, so that could be part of it, or all of it? Just curious if carbing up a meal can have this effect on someone who is insulin resistant from PCOS? Has anyone else had this happen? If so, I will never try THAT again. I feel sooooo shiddy.

Low sodium from the sudden water retention is my guess.
Get some sodium, quite a bit ASAP and you should start feeling better very quickly.3 -

Huh. Gonna try that. I would have thought it would be the opposite, too much sodium if you knock yourself out of ketosis? Obviously I have no clue what I'm talking about. LOL I don't feel puffy or anything... Will report back in a couple hours...

Don't feel bad...I rarely know what I'm talking about too...so often I think I could comment, then go "nah...leave it for the @Sunny_Bunny_ and @KnitOrMiss types of the forums who know waaaayyyyy more stuff than I and speak oh so eloquently for us all to learn."1 -
So... It's a couple hours after drinking my homemade lemon and sea salt electrolyte water... I'm sweating a LOT now and still feeling quite tired and shaky... Still not sure if it's my head cold or that higher carb meal yesterday...0

Fever? Body aches going with the cold symptoms?0

Sounds like maybe a cold setting in and just a coincidence that it was after the carb fest. Or if you believe, like I do, that carbs are just bad for our bodies in general, especially in large amounts, it could be it challenges your immune system enough to allow the cold to get ya.
Either way, that extra sodium should still do you well.
I take high doses of vitamins C daily. There was a week or so that I was slacking off big time and either not getting any at all it only getting about half my normal dosage and next thing you know, I got the worse cold ice had in a couple years. I think missing what my body was so used to getting, challenged my immunity and left it vulnerable and that it happened to coincide with exposure to a yucky bug!0 -
So... it's been about 32 hours now since my carb meal yesterday and I'm just now starting to feel normal again. My congestion is clearing up, I'm no longer shaky, my headache is gone, my energy is returning, hunger is subsiding, and the sweats stopped. SO BIZARRE, but I really think I was having some kind of a carb hangover. I could have SWORN I had a cold, antihistamines did nothing to help, but now that I'm feeling better the congestion cleared up too, so I'm pretty sure it was likely part of the reaction to eating those carbs... So confused...0

Glad you're feeling better! Carbs can do a number when they've been avoided for a while!1

It really helped confirm that I'm eating this way is the way to go and I'm feeling even more committed to this WOE for life. My cravings are GONE too, which is what I was hoping would happen if I just had some and got it out of my system. SO not worth it.1
