Hello - I'm new to the group and new to the lifestyle
My doctor wants me to try LCHF (keeping my net carbs under 50g/day) in order to avoid further diabetic medications (currently taking Met) and a way to help with PCOS symptoms.
My question is: how do I calculate how much fat and protein I should have in a day?
Do I worry about this?
TIA

Go here for a Keto Calculator.
For a really good grounding in LCHF, go up to the announcements and check out the Launch Pad section. There is more information up there than you will be able to absorb in several weeks of study.

Thank you - the calculator was what I was looking for!
I've dived into the launch pad and my doctor suggested www.dietdoctor.com
I've been reading so much I think my head might explode

Yes, it's a lot to read, and learn! These are things you'll want to read again after getting your habits changed to eating this way! Use the calculator posted, and plug the numbers you get into mfp. Carbs are the first thing you want to focus on, then fats would come in second (they are the key to success with this way of eating, imo!), and a moderate protein level would be your third in line of importance. Macros are very important to watch, imo! You may want to revisit the calculator as you lose weight, to see if things have changed for you. Best of luck!! You can do this!!1

There's absolutely no reason to suffer even 1 minute of what people refer to as "low carb flu", which is simply a low sodium issue.5
