Anyone have a histamine intolerance and follow a paleo diet? I've been basically paleo for a while now but it's challenging and I'd love some ideas...

Wow! That sucks! I just googled it because I had never heard of it, and found this: http://paleoleap.com/visual-guide-histamine-intolerance/ I am so sorry that you have to experience that!

In my carnivore world it's challenging too because aged meat have histamines. I have one friend that is able to get completely fresh meat and eats it raw. She's doing better than ever before. At one time her life, for many years, she was vegan. Lots of damage done apparently. Me, I don't have experience with that. All plant foods hurt me though.0

I've experienced some of what you're talking about. I thought I was allergic to my dogs or something! I read the article and what in the heck would there be left to eat if you stayed away from those foods?0

I agree, a long list of Paleo foods are offenders. I have a case where my symptoms are expressed as an acute bout of hay fever-runny nose, puffy and runny eyes, and itching fingers. I have eliminated processed meats and fermented foods. I found reference that high doses of vitamin C might be helpful. I take 3 X 1 gram of vitamin C spaced out during the day at 8 hour intervals. It provides me relief certainly within an hour.0

One of the symptoms which has been in complete remission since I have taken vitamin C is my itchy fingers. I now realize it probably was eczema related to a histamine intolerance.0

I have histamine intolerance and a malabsorption disorder. Paleo seems closest to what I can tolerate. But, I am on a strict diet. Low fodmap. Additionally I can't digest grains and starches. I cook meat very fresh and freeze leftovers. My histamine intolerance has been improving. I take vitamin c and Quercetin. Both are antihistamine antioxidants.0
