I figured I'd do the weekly thing until summer is over and everyone is back to a more normal schedule.

Sherry - If was awesome to hear from you! Congrats on the weight loss! I know it must be hard being stuck in with your mom, but it's so awesome that you're giving your dad a break like that. I'm praying for you, and hope things turn around for you soon. Send me a message if you ever just need to vent to a random person who isn't involved in these situations.

Marla - I hope our group keeps going too! Summer is always difficult for me because there is no true routine. We have all these vacations, projects, etc that are thrown in and no set schedule. I'm hoping things pick up again after school starts.

I've been catching up on projects around the house. I only have two more I want to get done before the school year gets into full swing. So this summer is going well. I now work as the secretary at my church as well, but at least that is paid. I also get a lot of my kid's ministry stuff done during the down time at church so it's working out quite well for me.
Hubby is having a rough time. Being a police officer right now is pretty awful and his department is busy throwing any police officer with any take down of a minority under the bus without a true investigation. They want to show the community they don't allow racism...but of course they aren't actually looking for true incidents of racism. It's all a big mess. He had to take down a kid, and they gave him disciplinary action for it, and it prevents him from being able to promote or transfer for three years. Good times.

School starts in two weeks. I'm hoping to get back into a routine then. I also have my face in Omaha that week. It's a heat advisory, so I'm not intending to have a PR. I'm just going to experience what nationals are like. I'll probably run the walk portion since it's going to be so hot and I want to at least finish. My big race is the half ironman in October, here in Phoenix. That one is the one I want to do well in time-wise.

Well, hopefully I'll actually start checking in more regularly now that my vacations are done.

    Have a great week!

Hi Val, sorry your husband is going through that. I didn't know he was a policeman, i just remembered the extra schooling. It makes more sense to me the things you went through last year. They have so much authority and power its hard in relationships.

Its such a mess in the country now, a few bad apples (police using force when they shouldn't) are ruining governing us for the rest of them and putting everyone at danger both blacks and police.

It must be stressful for you worrying about him. I am worried things will get worse before better. Even as a white woman i have read enough about minority's getting in trouble at a much higher rate.

I wonder if it's because of lack of money on their part and being raised on the streets or because a part of this country is still back in the old days believing African Americans are lesser people.

I worry for the police with all the guns allowed in public now. Its like we are going back to the cowboy days with everyone shooting all the time. So scary!

I am still battling stomach stuff, I can't wait for my nutritionist appt. Everytime i dare to eat out, foods that have caused no problems for all my life, now i have stomach issues.

It happens more during stressful times so i am wondering IBS since it is triggered by stress.

I had to cancel dinner on my bday because of it. After 3 days of feeling ok went out last night finally, had a great dinner only to have stomach problems this morning. It was a fancy place so it was not the food it is my system.

My hubby is slowly getting use to his new job, and i am loving my time alone. Going to sign up for some classes in the fall. The university here has a special program for over 50 with everything from art to writing to studying other cultures.
