Everyone says it, but just how do you do it? How do you take the guidelines of the WW program and turn them into a lifestyle you can live every day...from now on? That is what we are here to explore. Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Newbie? Join in! Veteran? Join in! Your thoughts may be just what someone else needs to hear.

LOL. My workout buddies are my pups and my lawn and garden equipment. I rarely have time for the gym during the warm months of the year, so when I do lift when time allows, it is on my own. I do miss having lift partners. Meeting with a lifting partner was beneficial in so many ways; motivation, honing technique, and camaraderie. I do have to say I get some great camaraderie with my pups.0

My wife and I are sort-of "workout buddies." I try to run 3x/week, and she runs 5-6 days a week. Thus, I can usually convince her to go for a run with me!
The nice thing about running with her is that it's a block of time that we can actually talk without the usual distractions of home life. That helps the time of the run go by quickly too!1 -
For walking/cycling it is my wife of the weekends. Otherwise, since I had to stop running, I go it alone. I do daily mat work and walk. The mat work could use a "buddy". But I am a bit of a loner so apart from my wife I enjoy walking alone.1

Hmmm...just noticed the list of contributors was not correct for July...0

Unless I am with my DW, I do most things, including working out, alone. Most of my hikes (I hike in the mountains frequently) are solo; I ride my bike by myself; I go to the gym and workout by myself. This allows me to push myself as much or as little as I feel like.0

I usually bike alone, but really enjoy it when I can find someone to ride with1

I run alone as my primary workout right now, have never been able to get my husband or friends into walking and/or running. Now I am looking at a couple of smaller fitness studios with the hope of meeting some folks who have a common interest of being or getting fit. Although I know alone I get it done because I am not influenced by someone not showing up/can't go workout, it sure would be nice to have some friends to share in the fun.0

I too have a big dog that I walk for 20 to 30 minutes, once or twice a day without fail. We got a new puppy about six weeks ago, and now I walk her too. Dog's are great - they certainly won't allow you to miss a day.
I consider the people in my group step aerobics class fitness buddies. Many of us have been working out together for years. I do my weight training with a DVD series, so if someone can be your virtual workout buddy, I guess the others suffering along with me and the trainer could count. On one DVD, at the end of the session, the trainer says "now don't you feel great?" and one of the guys in the background pipes back with "I feel exhausted". I get a chuckle out of that every time I hear it and it makes me feel good about finishing another never ending workout.0 -
No workouts here, so no workout buddy! I play golf as often as possible while the course is open here in Michigan, and I work in the yard spring through fall. Then I add the dreaded treadmill once winter sets in. DH joins me in golf when he is home - same with the yard work - but mostly I do these activities by myself.0

I train in group sports: boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so I end up having a whole team to keep me accountable. It makes it hard to skip class without a good reason because then you miss a new technique and your training partners ask you where you were!0

No workout buddy, no workout groups, no social media check-ins for workouts. Just me and my logbook. I'm walking/running 3 days a week on my home treadmill, and I do 3 days a week of lifting with my home bench and dumbbells. I've been doing that for many years, well before I seriously got back to my weight management work.

My running workout buddy is Cruella, my Garmin watch that keeps me honest about run/walk intervals. I have a couple of friends who sometimes join me for long weekend runs. They gave my watch its name.
I have another friend who I get out an bike ride with several times a year.
But the vast majority of my workouts are just me. And I'm okay with that as many times I've had just enough of interacting with people in the workplace and need to recharge with nature.0 -
No sorry for the short answer just doing work related walking at this point.0

Workouts?0

I do all sorts of different activities, so much depends on the activity. I do cardio at home in the am before work, so it's just me and my thoughts. Tennis is a group thing, and bicycling is something I do alone and with others, just depending on the circumstances.
Wifey and I try to walk the dog (or dogs when we're dogsitting) together a couple of times per week. Like Steve-0-mania, it's a good catch-up time.0 -
When I work out, yes I do! My DH is always willing to go for a walk or to the gym. It's been too long since we exercised on a regular basis, but as soon as his foot heals, I think we'll get back to it.
I have started walking the dog, so I guess he's my workout buddy too. We just do a few short walks throughout the day to keep moving!0 -
Right now, my workouts are comprised of walking. I have the occasional friend/co-worker walk with me. But, usually, it is just me.0

I wish I had a dog.0

Seldom. I have a WW couple I meet at gym sometimes but not a gym guy myself so much.
I do ride and walk w DW at times. I also meet a friend while walking around but don't plan on it.0 -

I consider the others in my water aerobics classes like work out buddies. I have tried to do the 50 minutes work out aline but it's just no fun.
I swim laps alone and usually have my0 -
Not at the gym but have our own 2 dogs and a puppy I'm raising for the Guide Dog Foundation, which means rarely have a day without at least 15K steps.0

I would like to, but trying to convince the wife is
a whole another story.0 -
I have tennis friends, volleyball friends, skiing friends, hiking/ orienteering friends. If I don't have an activity planned and just need to grind out 30-60 minutes of exercise (usually walking), I go it alone.0

It took me 12 years before my wife would agree to a dog. Actually it was my youngest daughter that finally broke her down.

No. I used to have the dog (the current one, not the one in the avatar) but she bailed on me. Most of my exercise currently is walking / hiking and she's a good one for that but she stopped going with me a few months ago. The one in the avatar loved going for walks but that was pre-WW and I'm quite sure I undid most of those walks in short order.0

"My running workout buddy is Cruella, my Garmin watch"...good point! I bet a lot of step counters motivate the person they are worn by.0
