In 2012 my youngest son, then age 28, told me "Dad, whenever we talk to you about your weight you just blow us off." It took me back to my childhood memory of how my family tried to talk to our alcoholic mother about her drinking. She didn't change and died at age 54.
That was the moment it struck me that what I was doing was the same thing,
I promised him I would do something. So at age 65 I began WW again. Now over three years and minus 140 lbs I still see that talk as one of the WHYs I will never go back to my old Lifestyle.
I know how it feels to see a loved one not take proper care of themselves and pay the price. I have made my children proud by what I have accomplished but I can never erase the hurt I caused by letting myself go and getting up to 376#. I caused him embarrassment and for that I regret my old ways.
