I got my lapband December 2010, worse thing I have ever did. Had problems from day one. I always threw up. Did get my weight down about 20 pounds than gained right back plus. Finally had all saline taking out and I am still the throwing up.
Moved in December to NC decided new start all around so seen new weight loss doctor (it's been 2 years since I seen one). Talked to him he said my struggles are VERY common and he takes them out all the time. He suggested that I get the Sleeve. I agreed and I am going through the processes now so hopefully I will get it done by the end of this year.
Just the struggles I went through with the lapband has me a little worried about the sleeve and I just wanted to hear from anyone else that has gone through this.
Thanks

I haven't gone from a band to a sleeve but I had a sleeve in October and it has been the best decision I ever made. Good luck with everything2

Ditto, except I got mine is March of this year... 3 days after my birthday. It was the best present ever. I don't regret doing it for a second and only wish I had done it sooner. The wife of a coworker just had her lapband out after years of issues. I think she's now considering the sleeve.1 -
I had a lapband for just about 10 years. It was good for a few years but went downhill from there. Same thing as you. I couldn't eat. I couldn't even enjoy going out to a restaurant because "I can't eat that" and then it turned into "I can't eat anything!" My doc finally ordered an upper GI and during the test I had one of the episodes I'd been explaining to him. I was so relieved it happened during the test! I was having spasms anytime anything hit the opening where the band was and it was closing. I had the band removed and sleeved in 1 surgery last November.
It was the best thing I ever did. I love the sleeve. I don't love how slow I lose though. I struggle but he told me that I would lose slower because it was my 2nd bariatric surgery. I've lost 111lbs so far (51 before the band came out, 60 after the sleeve). I'm about 50 from my 1st goal.
You won't be sorry. The sleeve is awesome and I'm a much happier person overall without the anxiety all the time of worrying if I'll throw up something. In fact...I haven't thrown up my food at all with the sleeve. The feeling is just like pre-band. You eat, it goes down, you get full on small amounts. Good luck!0 -
My band "slipped" so that not even water would go down. I threw up everything with slime. Gag!!! I was taken into emergency surgery two days before Christmas 2011. I feel so much better! But I too was scared. I'm so glad it's worked out. I paid for the band out of pocket and feel cheated. It was nothing like promised. My only problem was once I was able to eat again, I ate way too much. I gained 30lbs in 3 months after taking off 126. I still am trying to get down to a fairly decent, not BMI exact. It's easier only having 30-50 to lose than 130. It will be a life time of calories in vs calories out, but I'm in it for the long haul.0
