Smaller clothes

Just curious as to how many people buy smaller clothes at the beginning of this diet? I am guilty of such I purposefully bought several pairs of jeans that are one size too small and all 299 lbs barely fit into and my many muffins spill out of underneath my shirt as inspiration to lose weight. And I must say my 24s are looking much better on me here's to throwing away the stretch pants friends!

Yes! But don't make the same mistake I made, which was to buy ONE size smaller ( as I'd underestimated how much I could lose with this WoE!!!). I wasted lots of cash but no matter......how exciting eh?!3

When I moved from the US to the UK, I was losing weight, so I bought my favorite jeans in 3 sizes, each 1 size smaller. I am gutted now that they are all too big, and I never even wore them. I blasted past those sizes so quickly! Now I am on the hunt for them here in the UK in a smaller size, but alas, no luck. I shall have to go to the stores & try things on until I find my new 'favorite' jeans!3

Ha, that is a novel idea for me, as I am a bit of a favorite clothing packrat. I already have clothing that is much to small to use as motivation...my favorite pair of slacks from high school, 15 years ago. I'm not sure when they stopped fitting, but it has been a very long time they live in a rubbermade tub of hopes and dreams, under my bed with other clothes that I have squirrels away for "one day." I can put them on, but they cut into me and muffins and whatnot. Not encouraging when you know you are losing
Now one or 2 sizes too small...that would be much more encouraging. I'd be able to see how close I'm getting great idea!4 -
No but that is an interesting idea! I have various sizes in my closet already so I can see what old clothes I can fit into. I haven't kept ALL my old clothes but I have enough for comparison sake0

I had plenty of smaller clothes in my closet to shrink into plus no need for variety so held off for one big shopping trip. I have to say though I was ecstatic when the smallest clothes in my closet were too big.

I was on serious denial of my true size for awhile so I had a lot of clothes that I bought but hadn't worn cuz they didn't fit when I bought them! Lol I'm discovering a whole new wardrobe I even had some shirts that I bought that did fit right before I started lchf but they got too big. I had them taken in but they are doing too big again it's a great problem to have7

Going shopping in your own closet, thats what people call it!4

I actually ended up shopping in my old closet picking up jeans that "used to fit" that now fit again Some people like to go to thrift stores to pick up a pair of goal jeans. With this WOE you'll blow through sizes quick, lol. I find myself wearing leggings plus my pants to get more wear out of them. The leggings prevent them from falling down, lol.3

I put on about 60 lbs over the course of 3-4 years so I have a lot of clothes from various sizes from that process. I have had fun shopping my closet. I'm getting close to the point of having to buy all new stuff and that's exciting.4

Layering. Now that's the sign of a person who is comfortable with their weight and their body!3 -
I've lost 16 inches off my waist so no more
closet stock for me.
I hunt for jeans at the thrift store.

I love closet shopping too. I had stuff from size 22-16 but I'm also at the point of needing to shop the next time I drop a size, for pants anyway. I've got a ton of shirts ranging from L-XXL that are too small (I think the XXL is equivalent to a size 12...).
I do buy ahead a bit, but only when there's a sale that I would be nuts to disregard, and only by one size. Which means I have 2 new pairs of size 14 jeans in my closet and 1 new large shirt that I could wear but I'm worried it would tear if I sneezed while wearing it lol. The other large shirt I bought at the same time, I'm wearing today and it looks fabulous.4 -
i am a cheap SOB and waited until my pants looked like clown pants and my shirts looked like tents, then i bought some clothes. Went from 50 waist to 44 and 4x shirts to 2x. Soon I will have to buy 40 inch waist and 1x shirts6

I did not but I did buy Anna a dress she loved at the store the other day in a smaller size. She's decided that she wants to lose wt actively and that dress will help incentivize.3

Guilty. I have only one pair of "test" pants and one "test shirt" that I hang for motivation and measurement. When I can comfortably fit in those smaller sizes, I go out and by the same shirts and pants in other colors. Already through my 4x polo shirts and my 3X polos are too baggy so my test 2X polo is hanging in the closet just itching to get some same sized buddies. 2X is still too snug but we'll get there. Help....I'm stuck between 2 sizes! lol7

I went through my business suits last week and donated about 10. I kept one. They were from the 90's and early 2000's. Klingon shoulder pads! How in the world did we women wear those. They looked so funny. The sizes ranged from 16W to 22W. The one I kept still had tags and was a size 16 regular. The high waisted straight skirt was tight, uncomfortable, but wearable. The longish jacket (not fashionable now) looked a bit big. But, usable in a pinch.
The size 16 tight skirt bothers me a bit, as I wear below the waist shorts, capri's and jeans in a size 12. My fat in the middle has increased, and I figure that is why the size 16 skirt is so tight. I hear that modified mom jeans, with the higher waistline, (Vogue Mag) is coming back in style. Not to happy about that.
I have some medium tops that are new (bought by accident) that I still show fat folds since they are tight. Can't wait to finally fit in them after a few more pounds are lost!2 -
I am moving so it was a great excuse to ditch the big clothes. But I also have a hard time wrapping my head around the smaller me...so some of it stayed.
My colleague teases me because I wear a few shirts that 'look like tents' because they are much to big for me. The collar pulls down because there is less on top to cover now.
That being said, it was nice to buy some jeans in a size 28 and have no issue wearing them. I try not to buy too many clothes because I suspect they will become too big after a while, but that's why I shop at less expensive places. I bought a dress from Top Shop last year and now it's way too big, and I'm gutted because I only wore it a few times and it was expensive. Learned my lesson...3 -
I had sizes that ranged from 12 to size W28 in my closet when I began this woe!! Every diet I've ever been on I've saved the clothes, "Just in case". This time I've gotten rid of the clothes that don't fit anymore, knowing I won't ever need them again! This woe quickly became the way I will always eat, so I know I won't need them again! Is a great place to be!
I've taken some of the better clothes to consignment shops, but the majority were donated to Goodwill. Have a sister who was a recipient of some, as well as a friend too!
Since I've now dropped to size M/L it's time to clean out again! I've never been this size before! Is a wonderful problem to have!!7 -
That's so amazing guys!! I totally can not claim this idea as an entirely original because I got rid of my old jeans and went to Kohls and they ONLY sold 24s. (I was a 26) so I bought them out of the limited option... Where can I buy a 26?? So then I said to myself whatever wear these every day to remind yourself that this diet is way better than not being able to find clothes in your size!
A while ago I never would have been able to leave the house with that much gut hanging out... I always thought it looked really trashy of the people who did, similar to seeing guys underwear and pants reaching the BOTTOM of their butt... I mean come on... Not needed anyhow a little bit ago I was at a local water park with body board surfing.. And I was with my 10 year old cousins my sister her friend and the sisters friends son. So children and family as well as an audience at the bottom of the ride. I was wearing a 2 piece bathing suit shorts and shirt. Well they were snug and did well on all the other rides.... Not so with the body surfing.. The girl in front of me was wearing a bikini and they gave her a shirt for modesty. When it was my turn I attempted to do a 360... More like managed a 180 and fell on my back in the surf. The water pushed my pants off and spun me around and almost lost my shirt... So with shirt over my head and pants gone.... What dignity could their be in the world?? Well... All I could do was laugh and laugh I wasn't even embarrassed! Surprisingly this girl who was always ashamed of her body was butt naked I'm front of 30 people who laughed and cheered, was I embarrassed in the slightest? Not at all, I got my pants (shoved my stomach I into these shorts they were tight and wet and hard to put on) fixed my shirt walked down the causeway laughing to myself and shouted to the crowd, "sorry to get so personal!" to cheering it was awesome lol! Embarrassing is the experience that society has told us is what should be felt. I just felt liberation! Who cares if some 300lb chick lost her top and pants its all the same crap you have underneath yours just some are stretched out more than others.... Lol
My point is that taught me a lot about myself as a person and I am unashamed of myself, I know where I am going and where I want to be, doesn't mean that I am going to show anyone this beautiful bod Willy nilly just that life is too short for regrets... So your most embarrassing moments might be an awesome memory lol, so back to the original point I got comfortable in my own body for the first time in well like ever! So keep on trucking peeps! Hahahaha9 -
@jlynnschroyer thank you for the laugh I actually feel a lot better now about knowing I am not the only one who has accidentally given people something more than they bargained for.
Busy sunny morning, ran out of the house in my dress. Got to the bus stop and with a large gust of wind I did a Marilyn Monroe! My dress totally lifted up to my waist. This was when I realised I had not put my panties on!
I am still not sure weather I made someone's morning or traumatised them for life. But life goes on, and I received no applause.6 -
Hubby and I just spent 2 hours sorting through all of our clothes. We had a massive pile of oversized items by the time we were done. At least 4, 30 gallon trash bags worth. Most of them were his because I have been donating clothes a little at a time over the past year. Out local thrift shop is going to get a big donation this week!

@Bonny132 keep its classy Marilyn!
@StacyChrz that is awesome! I'm not quite at that point but can't wait til I'm there!1 -
I do my laundry on the weekends so I can hang them out to dry on the line. I was giggling to myself to see varying sizes of jeans out there! I've been going between fitting just right to falling off! When I peeked at the tag sizes I had 18-22! I'm refusing to get anything "new" (thrift store shopper) until the season change.1

I have some oversized clothes, clothes that fit, and my super-cute-smaller-one-day-I -will-wear-you clothes in rubber maid storage containers. I've been culling through the closet, getting rid of what I no longer need/wear. I feel like if I get rid of the old junk, I am reinforcing the new smaller version of me to step out.
It is fun to shop around in my own closet... for now.3
