Smaller clothes

Just curious as to how many people buy smaller clothes at the beginning of this diet? I am guilty of such I purposefully bought several pairs of jeans that are one size too small and all 299 lbs barely fit into and my many muffins spill out of underneath my shirt as inspiration to lose weight. And I must say my 24s are looking much better on me here's to throwing away the stretch pants friends!

Yes! But don't make the same mistake I made, which was to buy ONE size smaller ( as I'd underestimated how much I could lose with this WoE!!!). I wasted lots of cash but no matter......how exciting eh?! :)

When I moved from the US to the UK, I was losing weight, so I bought my favorite jeans in 3 sizes, each 1 size smaller. I am gutted now that they are all too big, and I never even wore them. I blasted past those sizes so quickly! Now I am on the hunt for them here in the UK in a smaller size, but alas, no luck. I shall have to go to the stores & try things on until I find my new 'favorite' jeans!

Ha, that is a novel idea for me, as I am a bit of a favorite clothing packrat. I already have clothing that is much to small to use as motivation...my favorite pair of slacks from high school, 15 years ago. I'm not sure when they stopped fitting, but it has been a very long time they live in a rubbermade tub of hopes and dreams, under my bed with other clothes that I have squirrels away for "one day." I can put them on, but they cut into me and muffins and whatnot. Not encouraging when you know you are losing :frowning:

Now one or 2 sizes too small...that would be much more encouraging. I'd be able to see how close I'm getting  great idea!

No but that is an interesting idea! I have various sizes in my closet already so I can see what old clothes I can fit into. I haven't kept ALL my old clothes but I have enough for comparison sake

I actually ended up shopping in my old closet picking up jeans that "used to fit" that now fit again :) Some people like to go to thrift stores to pick up a pair of goal jeans. With this WOE you'll blow through sizes quick, lol. I find myself wearing leggings plus my pants to get more wear out of them. The leggings prevent them from falling down, lol.

I put on about 60 lbs over the course of 3-4 years so I have a lot of clothes from various sizes from that process. I have had fun shopping my closet. I'm getting close to the point of having to buy all new stuff and that's exciting.

Layering. Now that's the sign of a person who is comfortable with their weight and their body!

I love closet shopping too. I had stuff from size 22-16 but I'm also at the point of needing to shop the next time I drop a size, for pants anyway. I've got a ton of shirts ranging from L-XXL that are too small (I think the XXL is equivalent to a size 12...).

I do buy ahead a bit, but only when there's a sale that I would be nuts to disregard, and only by one size. Which means I have 2 new pairs of size 14 jeans in my closet and 1 new large shirt that I could wear but I'm worried it would tear if I sneezed while wearing it lol. The other large shirt I bought at the same time, I'm wearing today and it looks fabulous.

I did not but I did buy Anna a dress she loved at the store the other day in a smaller size. She's decided that she wants to lose wt actively and that dress will help incentivize.

I went through my business suits last week and donated about 10. I kept one. They were from the 90's and early 2000's. Klingon shoulder pads! How in the world did we women wear those. They looked so funny. The sizes ranged from 16W to 22W. The one I kept still had tags and was a size 16 regular. The high waisted straight skirt was tight, uncomfortable, but wearable. The longish jacket (not fashionable now) looked a bit big. But, usable in a pinch.

The size 16 tight skirt bothers me a bit, as I wear below the waist shorts, capri's and jeans in a size 12. My fat in the middle has increased, and I figure that is why the size 16 skirt is so tight. I hear that modified mom jeans, with the higher waistline, (Vogue Mag) is coming back in style. Not to happy about that.

I have some medium tops that are new (bought by accident) that I still show fat folds since they are tight. Can't wait to finally fit in them after a few more pounds are lost!

I am moving so it was a great excuse to ditch the big clothes. But I also have a hard time wrapping my head around the smaller me...so some of it stayed.

My colleague teases me because I wear a few shirts that 'look like tents' because they are much to big for me. The collar pulls down because there is less on top to cover now.

That being said, it was nice to buy some jeans in a size 28 and have no issue wearing them. I try not to buy too many clothes because I suspect they will become too big after a while, but that's why I shop at less expensive places. I bought a dress from Top Shop last year and now it's way too big, and I'm gutted because I only wore it a few times and it was expensive. Learned my lesson...

I do my laundry on the weekends so I can hang them out to dry on the line. I was giggling to myself to see varying sizes of jeans out there! I've been going between fitting just right to falling off! When I peeked at the tag sizes I had 18-22! I'm refusing to get anything "new" (thrift store shopper) until the season change.

I have some oversized clothes, clothes that fit, and my super-cute-smaller-one-day-I -will-wear-you clothes in rubber maid storage containers. I've been culling through the closet, getting rid of what I no longer need/wear. I feel like if I get rid of the old junk, I am reinforcing the new smaller version of me to step out.
It is fun to shop around in my own closet... for now. :)
