Poll: Loss mode, maintaining, other?

GOAD has been on MFP for a little over a month. The dust has settled a bit and posts seem to be coming from a set of regulars. It seems like more Goadies are maintaining than losing. Let's check that. Are you in loss mode, maintaining, or some other status?

Somewhat related question - how can we attract more newbies to GOAD?
  1. I'm maintaining.
  2. I have recommended GOAD on a few threads out on the General Diet and the Fitness boards.

    1. I'm a LOSER :) (six weeks to a long awaited beach vacation - I'll take any inspiration to get these darn pounds off)
    2. Maybe post something on Connect?

    I'm in loss mode
I've mentioned this on another thread to someone, but haven't seen any participation from the individual. It would be nice to have a few new participants join in. I always enjoy reading others perspectives and stories.

I am maintaining from WW perspective as a Lifetime member, but I am attempting to lose another 5-7 so I have a good cushion from goal.

Not sure how to up the volume of contributors on GoaD - possibly posting on Connect with a link and hashtag: wwbros (which is what the guys call themselves on Connect)

    Maintaning.

Not a new media kind of guy- can we promote goad on FB or Twitter? Free weight loss help. Really free, not a sales pitch. But if we make a move like that are we going to become littered with folks trying to sell us? Donno

    1) Loss mode although I'm down to "vanity pounds"

    2) This time of year is tough for recruiting new members since it's entering into the holiday season when a lot of people say *kitten* it and stop logging. Keep posting in the forums and I think you'll see a big uptick if we have a recruiting push after the new year. Posting info in the maintainers forum might be useful since we have a lot of near or below goal WW people here

I'm "maintaining," but would be delighted to take off about 10 pounds to get to a happier-place.

I think if we really want new folks on this board, one needs to identify them and personally invite them. I'm not a fan of having a massive influx of new folks "just because," mainly because of the old 200 post-rule: you can't really decide if someone is serious, good personality fit, willing to discuss things rationally, etc., until you've gotten to know them a bit. Thus, rather than advertising blindly, if folks hang around on other MFP pages/boards, they should specifically invite folks they like to join GOAD.

Edit-addition: I note with more than a bit of humor that I am under 200 posts right now! Many would not have spoken to me on GOAD at this point!

Early results favor 'loss mode'. I'm a little surprised, but maybe our maintainers are just not morning people.

    (1) Loss mode.

    (2) If we had a tightly crafted elevator pitch for GoaD, I'd post it elsewhere on MFP.

Maintenance mode although my buffer is eroding.

Recruitment is going to be a bit tougher when you are not on your home turf.

Life-timer in 2005 Trying to get back to the Loss mode but every time I come to the fork in the road I go down the wrong path and come to a detour and need to turn around and find my way back through all the turns I took to get there.

    Maintainer.

No clue on how to recruit people. I'm happy when the people we have participate. That in itself may build curiosity and interest. They seem like key components for recruitment that turns into contributing members.

My attempt at a GOAD recruitment elevator blurb:

There is a great community of guys (guy-guys, girl-guys, guys-of-every-stripe) over in the Groups section of the myfitnesspal community. If you like your weight loss/maintenance community to be helpful and supportive, a little edgy and fun, and with all semblance of sugar coating removed, this could be for you. Find us by searching "GOAD" in the "search groups" box after clicking on Groups.

GOAD has been around for 10+ years and recently moved here from the former WeightWatchers community boards. In that time countless "GOADies" have given and received tips, advice, support, and KITA. We have some regular/daily threads, some special interest threads (runners, bikers, walkers), and always an open forum to ask questions and share your weight loss experiences.

Stop by and introduce yourself. A little GOADing might be just what your weight loss plan needs!

I finally stopped gaining after putting on about 20 pounds in the last year. I seem to be maintaining. Would like to weigh less without having to lose weight, of course.
