Okay so I know this isn't major but what causes our weight to fluctuate in one day? We are doing a biggest loser contest at work. I lost 9 pounds the first week. We have to weigh in each Friday. This morning I checked my weight and it was 241. That is another 5 pounds gone. Tonight I weighed just to see. I weighed 244. What? Three pounds in one day? Is there a way to prevent this? I haven't cheated any. Very strict on carbs. Benn doing the same thing all along.

Always weigh yourself same time of day under same conditions

Water. It happens all day, every day. It's normal and not preventable as far as I know.
Also, gut contents. You probably ate between weigh ins right?

At some point, scale weight loss will slow down significantly if it doesn't just stop all together before you reach your goal weight.
I feel like it will be helpful for you to be prepared for this ahead of time so here are a couple links to help understand this and be aware and prepared so that it doesn't derail you.

Well. I thought that was the deal. Just didn't know that it would fluctuate that much. So, this morning, I weighed 240. I have to weigh in for the contest Friday morning around 7:50. Will skipping breakfast Friday morning help stay at this 240 pound weight point for the weigh-in

It would at least not add the physical weight of your breakfast, but at weigh in time, it's honestly a crap shoot as far as where your actual scale weight will be.
Also, don't forget that you'll be weighing on a different scale too. The difference could be in your favor or not.

Scales are fickle also. Mine was very consistent - but I was very careful with it. I put it on a flat surface for storage, I made sure it was on a flat spot for weighing, etc. But since we've been painting I've had to move it around a good bit, it's been on it's side, and jostled. Anna got on twice yesterday back to back and the difference was something like 3 lbs. It's never done that before. I used to do double checks when I weighed to see if it was inconsistent and it was always spot on for each weigh...now I'm not so sure. I am only getting on once for myself still and taking the number as is but am contemplating a new one once all the work in the bedroom/master bath is done. Knowing, as said above, that the new one may be different from the old. We just have to go with it if we are going to weigh and for me, if I don't weigh I have too little accountability.

Yes I brought mine to work last week and checked them right beside each other. Mine is 1 pound off. I tried to skip breakfast last Friday for the weigh-in, but my body was screaming for nutrition. So, I guess it was fine. I will try and skip tomorrow's breakfast and weigh and then eat. Many thanks to you all...
