Introducing Myself!

So, I've been on and off of this site for years, losing and gaining the same pounds. I turned 40 last October and swore up and down that I would not be overweight on my 40th but unfortunately I was. So, I've vowed to make the change and did some real good research on this site which has led me to this group. I want to lose the weight properly and keep it off. This week, I'm focusing on not going over on my calories and getting my water in. Next week, I'm going to try to exercise for two days, then add on a little more each week after that. My goal is two cardio days and three days of strength (body weight and I have a bowflex, kettlebell and 5 and 7.5lb hand weights. My TDEE - 20% is 2008 daily calories. I have 125lbs to lose but I'm going to try to focus only on 10lbs at a time. I'm going to need all the motivation, encouragement I can get. I'd love to those of you who are successful with this WOE to add me as a friend as I love to look at food diaries to get ideas on what others are eating.

@sweetie1975 After suffering a big loss in my life, I had vowed to be fit by 40. I started doing changes, one by one, just like you are vowing. That was 5 years ago. Now I'm vowing to still be even fitter at, 50 by eating my calories, watching my macros, staying active and lifting. Pick one thing, and just one thing. Do it over and over until you master it. Once it becomes second nature, go for another one. Yes, it will take longer, but it will definitely take you to where you want to go. Time will pass anyway, so you'd better use it wisely. You are starting in the right foot!

Welcome to the group!
As someone else who has a ton of weight to lose, I urge you to put that number aside and focus on just eating healthy, eating more to get your metabolism needs to be and focus on lifting heavy. its a big diet mentality at play when we start to put final numbers on our end goal. A lot of this journey is realizing the end number may not be the number you actually want or need:)
Just take it one thing at a time, one task at a time:) We are here to help:)

Thank you guys for responding and offering support and advice, it means a lot. In terms of lifting heavy, I don't have a gym membership and I don't plan on getting one...the gym environment isn't for me (right now) as I have a young Son who keeps me going with his extra curricular activities and I work full time so I need the flexibility to work out when I can in my home. As I mentioned in my intro, I do have a bowflex so I can use heavy weight on that and I know it's not the same as lifting free weights but it will have to do. Plus I'm going to be incorporating body weight exercises. Do you all think that will help or is this program only designed for those who can lift heavy free weights?
Thank you0 -
Use what you have! It will still be good for you!1

That will definitely get you going! The key is to start, work with what you have. Maybe after a while you can incorporate a swiss ball, some dumbells from a garage sale, possibilities are endless!

Hi @sweetie1975
This programme is for everyone! Some people love cardio, some love weights!
Don't be put off by the 'lifting heavy' Remember this is relative, so as long as you progress, and can do more over time, you are doing it! Body weight exercises are a great place to start. You can progress with these by making them slightly more difficult as you become stronger. Use what you have!
You totally have the right idea of changing one thing at a time. Concentrate on that one thing for as long as you need, until it becomes second nature before moving onto your next change.
You've totally got this!
