Question regarding activating muscles.

Hi all, we started doing DDP last week, love it so far. One question, when your doing diamond cutter, touchdown or really any of the moves. DDP says to engage your muscles, does that mean squeeze your muscles? When we do the punches, the resistance should be tensing up your muscles and not just doing it slowly correct?
