@NewOR2015 I just checked you out over there lol.

@1skholloway I put the Chia in my yogurt I let it sit at least a 1/2 hour for the seeds to swell. A little bit packs a punch . My mom puts some in her baking muffins and breads.

@2020pinktogo I see where chia seed could be ok that way. I won't eat it again just soaked in water or milk. Maybe if I tried it a few more times I would like it better.

@JanolaBarbara I hope you enjoy your nephew's visit.

@1skholloway yeah I throw in like no more than a Tbs in 16 oz of yogurt it has no taste it just adds protein and it's really good for your colon. It's funny how yow you get to a certain age and suddenly you worry about your colon health. LOL ;)

Guess I'll be trying chia seeds with the rest of my group.

I thought I posted my comment on chia seeds. One or two spoons in my overnight oats most days. I once made a chia seed dessert. I think it was chia, coconut milk and berries. Very nice, because you get the flavour from the others and the chia makes it thick and settle, kind of like jelly.

Chis is good for your colon @2020pinktogo ? I need to be concerned about that at 47??? Good luck on trying chia @NewOR2015 ! @CaptainBoing I think you did post about chia. As much as I like oatmeal, I don't like overnight oats either. I don't know why. I like oatmeal in smoothies but not cold oatmeal.

I'm finally logging in what I ate for breakfast 3 hours after I ate and I don't remember if I included one ingredient. Hmmm... I hate when I do this! I usually lean toward the high side of caloric intake but this is a difference of 80 calories. I don't remember adding cottage cheese to my smoothie this morning. I'm not adding it.

The low carb sugar free tortillas I have been eating are no longer available locally. The only other things I can find are much more expensive. Thankfully, I have found that Target carries the tortillas and will ship them. I got a RedCard so shipping is free and I will save 5%. I don't know how they can afford to do that. I will enjoy it as long as it lasts!

I'm really bad at logging my food at the moment! Really trying to do better at it.

But had two good things happen today. Firstly, the normal gym I go to (I also go to a Jui Jitsu gym) isn't really suiting me. I want high intensity classes where they really push you, but those are rare and the times really don't suit me. There is a new gym opening in January and I went to find out more about it. Sounds awesome with loads of classes of various types and a low monthly fee. The sign up fee is really steep, but I have a few months to save and the location is also more suitable. I would be able to go during my lunchtime when working or from home with ease!

The other thing was bumping into a friend I have known since school days. His sister and I were really close then and still keep in touch. I don't see him often (even though he actually lives around the corner from me!) He complimented me on how I look these days and actually went on for about 5 minutes about how incredible the transformation is. He said I actually look better than I did when I was at school (which is over 20 years ago!)

    @CaptainBoing Wow! That's a compliment!

@1skholloway Sugar-free tortillas? I didn't know tortillas had sugar in the first place.

I found a recipe for Sticky Cinnamon Roll Chia Pudding. I'll have to give it a try. It calls for protein powder, which I don't do, so I'll probably toss in an eggwhite or coconut meal.

My nephew leaves tomorrow morning. I'll miss having him around, but I'm also ready to return to my childfree life. I'm always appreciative of all the work parents do to raise their kids after a visit from a niece or nephew.

@CaptainBoing --what a great compliment! Also, I do think of my colon health and I'm 'only' 47. XD

@1skholloway -- grrrr. I hate it when you find a perfect food, and the stores stop carrying it. Guess you'll have to find a way to stock up!

@NewOR2015 -- Let us know how it goes with the chia seeds. I sometimes find them in the gourmet food aisle at Marshall's. Just be sure to check the expiration date.

@NewOR2015 a lot of food has added sugar. I am finding that most bread products have added sugar. I am trying very hard to not eat added sugar. I live in a small town and we don't have anything like a Whole Foods grocery. Ezekiel bread is the only bread I can find without added sugar and it's over $5/loaf. I can't afford to eat that all the time or maybe I'm just to frugal to pay that. I find that price ridiculous and refuse to pay it.

@2020pinktogo so glad your new job went well on your first day!

@blitzbis so glad you didn't get picked for jury duty! You will really enjoy the cruise after this week!

I am having a really busy, stressful week. The co-worker who helps me with my work is on vacation and of course, I had lots of work yesterday. Then my part-time job really kicked in to high gear this week too. I didn't have time to work out yesterday nor will I have time to work out today. I am determined to work out Wednesday an Thursday. Yesterday, I found myself telling myself "I will not get stressed" repeatedly. Thankfully, I received an order of essential oils last night and it contains a stress relief blend. I have it with me today.

Confession: I have been drinking diet soda again. I have been having gastrointestinal issues for 10 days now. Soda seems to help the issue. I went to the doctor 5 days ago. He told me an OTC drug to take and said it would take 5 days for the issue to resolve. Well, it's better but not totally resolved. I love Coke Zero. Of course, I want them when I am stressed too. I drank 2 cans yesterday. I am drinking one now because I am already nauseous and bloated. I can't start drinking these things regularly again. I have got to get over this stomach issue! I am still drinking plenty of water in addition to the diet soda. I drank 6 cups of water and a 12 oz. cup of coffee before leaving for work this morning.

The good news: Today I'm wearing a skirt I bought 3 1/2 years ago and have never worn. I bought it as part of an outfit to wear to an event. By the time the event rolled around, the skirt didn't fit. I wore the other pieces of the outfit some but outgrew them as well. I kept the complete outfit with the hopes of being able to wear it someday. Well, today is the day. I don't even like the complete outfit together now. What was I thinking? The skirt is a classic style so I can use it a lot. The other pieces, probably won't get worn much because they are more splashy than my lifestyle calls for. It feels great to be able to fit in to these clothes again!

Ok, I gotta get busy doing my work. I hope everyone has a terrific day!

    @1skholloway great NSV :)

this job keeps blowing my mind I get an hour for lunch and a break it's like man this is so cool. though I keep thinking I must look like the grinning idiot because I know I am always smiling because I'm just so happy. I have given up the heels and am just wearing the flat shoes. Even sitting the heels just weren't me. I looked good but hey I still look good just not where a guy would think about asking me out cause he likes the heels type of thing. Day one my husband told me I looked hot I wore heels Day 2 with the flats he said I was cute. I can live with cute. LOL

My nephew left yesterday, then we had a couple over for dinner, then a book club meeting. Slept for almost 12hrs, felt achy and sick for half of today. I think I was just worn out, plus TOM started yesterday. Didn't eat too much today. Spent a couple of hours today on the sofa watching A&E's Pride and Prejudice, then took a nap. Needless to say, didn't do a heck of a lot of exercise, although DH did take me out for a short walk this afternoon. I'm sure I'll be more myself tomorrow.

@1skholloway -- Yippee!! What an amazing feeling! Nothing like fitting back into old clothes as proof of all your hard work! Good job! Hope you find GI relief. My tummy is settling down a lot more now that I'm on this re-set eating style. I've been soda free for 23 days! In fact, I'm thinking of continuing for another 30 days, but we'll see (the only thing I really miss is wine XD).

@2020pinktogo -- I'm also glad you're enjoying the new job. What was it about your protein bar that freaked out your trainer?

@blitzbis -- At least there's a light at the end of the week.... the cruise!!!

Yay for fitting into old clothes and for new jobs that allow things like decent breaks!!!

I'm doing really well and training hard this week. Very little time left until my fencing competition so I really need to focus on that, but it is so much fun at Jui Jitsu, that I end up on the mat instead of the piste! Tuesday evening I did really well at Jui Jitsu and survived 4 rounds of one kind of training we do!! I even beat a blue belt in one of the rounds.

This morning my sexy trainer decided to turn my legs into jelly (which he far too happy about!!) He also told me that since I started training my quads have got more definition (you can see the different muscles now), my hamstrings have got smaller and my glutes are more defined (previously there was not clear division between them). So basically now I have a butt!!

Yes, this means he has been staring at my butt for large amounts of time. I feel more comfortable with that idea knowing, it is how he does his job properly and that we get on really well!!!

@CaptainBoing LOL on the butt thing. I don't think I would ever be comfortable with someone staring at my butt even if they were a butt specialist. :D
My trainer was eating biscuits and gravy with some sort of meat in it. 4 of them and I had my one protein bar. She was ok you don't need anything else to hold you over til 4:30 I was like nope. I was really good cause I was so close to saying I only eat 1200 calories a day and that was 210 that leaves me a plenty for dinner and a snack. ;) I'm so used to sharing food stuff with you guys it's hard to remember that the average person just doesn't care. LOL

@1skholloway I am so impressed that you are aware enough of your trials (decreasing soda intake once your stomach issues resolve) to be vigilant about it now. That is why you are achieving such great NSV's! Congrats. I feel ya about stressors at work not "allowing" time for workouts. Hope you have been successful in adding them back in.

@2020pinktogo great news about the job. So happy that it's a good fit for you. Heels are highly overrated and definitely not good to do your marathon walking around the buildings at breakneck speed. I keep a pair of Nike flipflops in my desk drawer for days I wear non-sensible shoes so I can walk without killing myself.

@JanolaBarbara i am amazed at how busy you guys are. Seems like you are always entertaining family or friends. How goes the knee? The A&E Pride and Prejudice is the best one ever. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

@CaptainBoing keep up the good training! Sounds like you have really kicked it up a notch. I know you are so proud and happy to be back to 100%

Last day of work. Office manager is back today so i am actually able to catch up on the reports etc i need to do prior to taking off this evening. I haven't been able to go to my park and walk during the day this week, but I am planning on getting in a good walk/run today. Fingers crossed.

We castrated two of our adult male seals today (the oldest was done years ago and the little one is too young). First one gets knocked out by the drugs and all set up. Vets reach in to get the *kitten* sack out and seem to be spending an awfully long time feeling around. They were able to confirm that the seal in question is without a doubt a female! Reverse the drugs and our newest girl wakes up fine. The second one went more along the planned route considering be had fathered two babies already. Both seals are awake and looking for food when I left! The boy will be monitored and kept away from water for 24 hours, but all is expected to be fine. It is a simple procedure although the anaesthesia is complicated because of their driving reflex (we flew in an expert for that part!)

Unfortunately, I then made bad food choices and am now suffering, plus my calves are reminding me of how hard I trained yesterday. Heading to bed just now hoping my stomach forgives me for the bad choices and that the forecast rain stops before our beach clean up!

I went back to the doctor yesterday for my stomach problems because although some of it was better, there were some new developments. The doctor is treating me for diverticulitis. He put me on two antibiotics and told me to eat soft foods for a few days. A lady in the office has diverticulitis and told me I needed to have a very low fiber diet for a few days. I felt rotten but stayed at work because I had work to do and the lady who helps me is on vacation. After going to the pharmacy for my meds, I ran in the grocery to pick up a few items. I could think of NOTHING healthy to eat that is low in fiber and soft. I went home and was asleep by 6:30 pm. I woke up this morning feeling good at 4:35 and got up and started preparing sugar free jello, rice, and mashed potatoes to eat today. I had to go in to work early to get some things done that had to be completed today. I seem to feel worst in the mornings a while after eating. On top of that, I felt really weak this morning and had difficulty standing for very long. After getting everything done that I had to do today, I came home. I did touch base with the doctor's office. The doctor's office closed at noon so he recommended having someone drive me to the emergency room. By the time I got that recommendation I felt better so I didn't go. I have spent the rest of the day in bed and feel better.

I'm not logging what I eat but I am trying not to over do it. The kind of stuff I am eating is what I like to eat and could eat all the time. It would be easy to fall back in to old eating habits. I don't have an appetite and seldom get hungry but I am making myself eat.

The stomach problems do seem to be better today since I am eating very low fiber and soft foods. The doctor also recommended that I get off the meds but I think I am going to try one or two more doses and see if they make weak. Yes, I am being hard headed. I want to get over this stomach issue! I have a lot of work to do this weekend and a birthday gift to make for Sunday. I hope to start adding back some regular food Monday. I'm not sure what to eat right now. I know oatmeal is high in fiber but it doesn't seem to bother me much.

@CaptainBoing As active as you are, how "bad" could your food choices have been?

@1skholloway Be careful with your hard-headedness. You've got to take care of yourself first no matter how many other things need to be done. And don't worry about my birthday gift this Sunday, I'll be fine. :)

@NewOR2015 I am not too strict with my food and have nothing that is not allowed but I aim to choose healthy options the majority of the time and limit the quantity and regularity of the treats. That day was only unhealthy choices the entire day and it resulted in my stomach objecting to the combination (I rarely have problems because I don't have a gall bladder, but when I do it really feels bad!)

So i guess Sundays are going to be my run to mom and dads and do odd chores for them and whatever needs to be done. Today was lift the air conditioner with my dad and put it away. My mom is like i can do it. OMG she will be the death of me. It was so much easier for Dad and I to haul it. So she is leading me as I am walking backwards down the stairs and she is pulling on my belt loops. LOL I'm like woman stop yanking on me. She goes I'm just guiding you She's yanking on my pants my dad goes I'm glad it's just not me she yanks on. LOL ;) It's a good thing my dad and I work really well together.

@NewOR2015 -- Happy Birthday!! Hope you are enjoying your special day!

@CaptainBoing -- Glad you have a butt now! I did a wall-sit the other day and noticed that I now have that curve between my hamstrings and glutes!! Maybe I finally have a butt, too. XD

@2020pinktogo -- Just make sure you don't hurt yourself. You are so good to your parents. Sometimes there's a lot of drama in my family, so I'm glad I live far away. I do love them, I just don't want to get sucked into their circus.

@1skholloway -- Aw, hope your stomach feels better, and that you're off the meds.

Well, I'm still a little sick or whatever it is I have. I feel so much better today than I did on Wed, but after grocery shopping and a dance lesson my headache came back. DH and I came home and I sat on the sofa and watched football for an hour and that helped. Pretty much took it easy for the rest of the day. We did go on a short walk, which was nice.

Hi everyone Hope everybody is feeling better.
So hubby is making dinner now that I am working and he feels I am not eating well at all. LOL Anyway last night he did stuffed pork chops. Normally I would not eat pork chops as it doesn't sit well in my stomach and I always regret it. Well I came in and I was starving and it smelled so good. OMG my body just really doesn't like pork I ate tums and prilosec to settle it down. I knew better but I did it anyway. Oh well

work is going well I figure I will really know how I am doing when friday rolls along and I am working alone. that will say it all. They hired a new woman and she started her training yesterday. Ok she is really pushy She started in on me on what her plans are and how she plans to move up in the company. Ok this is going to sound mean but I wanted to say you should have worn a longer dress when you bend over I can see your as*. I don't think she cared for the fact I just kept nodding but not giving much info. Finally she goes what are your plans? I said to get through training. ( I want to fully master each thing before I move on to the next. I'm not announcing my goals to anyone. LOL ;) You guys are the exception :) )

    Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi all, I am... here. Well I do feel better but now diarrhea has set in. The doctor called in a prescription last night. It helped buy hasn't stopped the diarrhea. I have to go back to the doctor today at 4. I had to go to the hospital to give a stool sample so they can run a couple of tests but it will take a week to get the results back. I'm not a happy camper.
