Ugh! Food Mistakes

I thot I did a good job making sure my food entries were correct. I'm still mad my old data isn't working since I reinstalled since I'm not a premium user. So I'm rebuilding all my often used foods, and although I watch the carb count carefully, I just noticed for the past few days my calories for BLACK coffee were 120 calories per 10 oz. Ugh.

Since I have several cups most days lately, my calorie counts have been off by 300-500 a day! No wonder the other day I was shocked to hit almost 2000 calories.

I guess that's a good thing? But really. Who enters a calorie count for black coffee at 160 a cup?! Grrr.

Me... Lol. Because I add coconut oil.

But that's not my entry... I usually save mine as recipes. Just in case you were ready to bite my head off.

that same thing happened to me....I could not figure out how I was eating so many calories and then I saw the black coffee was 120 calories. I almost died but then felt better that I really did not eat that many calories.

Yep, every single new entry must be checked for accuracy. It's really crazy what some people put in for nutrients on items. So much ball parking and making stuff up out of nowhere. The worst for me is things like meat and some fresh veggies because we have to go check all those against the USDA websites and can't just read the package the way we can read the coffee can or butter box. Sigh...

Here's a food mistake a tad bit off topic: chia seeds, if you eat too many too soon, can either cause constipation or...... Explosive diarrhea. Those things should come with a warning label.

    Sorry... Tmi? ;)

Everywhere I have looked online I find coffee to be in the <10 calorie range for 8 ounces. Are you talking about coffee with something added?

@naildriver61 What she means is that someone built an entry for coffee in the MFP food database that said coffee was 120 cals and she's been logging that and adding all those extra cals in her log for the day by mistake.

Prolly is someone's oily coffee, cause look at the fat grams. I found my old entry - the keurig. Really stinks they hold all my old data hostage.

I don't even log coffee . . . but if I did, I would notice on the first entry that something was off, since I check every addition to my diary to make sure it doesn't change my daily total in an unexpected way.

How's you manage to go days without noticing it?

. . . . never mind. I seem to recall a previous diet when I had horrendous cravings for a good part of a week for no good reason could think of. Then I went to toss my next pop can in my drawer where I keep recyclables, and discovered several full-sugar coke cans in it. Turns out the place I worked shifted the beverages around in the refrigerator. I'd been grabbing by location (and drinking without noticing) full-sugar coke for a good part of a week. **headbang** It did have the benefit of confirming what I have always claimed - sugar gives me cravings.

Yep. Just thot - it was the same black coffee I had always added. Didn't think to check it cause I thought I "knew" what it was. Took me about three days!

At least it was just a "paper error". Better than ingesting carbs accidentally! I'm usually so focused on carbs I don't even check the other macros, and to tell you the truth, I try very hard to ignore calories altogether. As difficult as that is to do within the current societal norms.

My daughter has gestational diabetes and her doctor just told her not to use cream in her coffee anymore, but to use skim milk. My daughter gave her a strange look for a minute and then explained that skim milk has more sugar in it than cream. She said her doctor looked angry for half a second and then just told her to skip adding either to her coffee. Oh, and to make an appt with a "nutritionist".

    *roll eyes*
