Fuzzy Water

We drink quite a bit of seltzer water. I drink around four 12oz cans of it a day. I've looked online for any damaging evidence but haven't found any. Thots?

I found this (on Livestrong, so take it with a grain of salt)
Carbonated water is safe to drink, although it may exacerbate the symptoms of some digestive problems.
Colas, fizzy drinks that include caffeine and phosphoric acid, can lead to weaker bones, but carbonated water will not cause mineral loss, according to a study published 2006 in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.” The human study found that only the intake of colas, and not other carbonated soft drinks, including carbonated water, causes low bone mineral density.2 -
Yeah. That's what I've found, too. No one condemns it anywhere, which is odd cause it's good. Lol. I drink all the various flavors (no sweetener tho).0

This article leaves out the critical factor of buffering capacity. While carbonated water may have an absolute low pH, it has a very weak buffering capacity so that "acid" is immediately neutralized by the saliva in your mouth because it has virtually no buffering capacity to maintain its acidity. Also, BTW, the pH scale is logarithmic so going from a pH of 3.0 to a pH of 1.0 increases acidity by 100 times.
I will continue to enjoy my plain seltzer water.

One more comment from a science perspective. This passage reveals a possible misunderstanding of how a logarithmic scale works: "Flavored soda waters pH levels range from 2.74 to 3.34, while Coca Cola has a pH level of around 2.525.
(At the risk of sounding dramatic, for reference, battery acid has a pH of 1.0. )"
Each step on the logarithmic pH scale is a power of ten times as acidic or basic. So the comparison of battery acid with Coca Cola is deceptive. Yes, they are only 1.525 units apart in linear units. But on a logarithmic scale, that signifies that battery acid is *33 times* more acidic than Coca Cola. Basic scientific/quantitative literacy folks.

I think tonic water is the one of more concern, not seltzer water.0 -
Fuzzy water should not be drank.
Fizzy water is tasty.4 -

Srsly, textspeak has taken over my life. Ppl still get mad when I write "prolly". I mean, come on. You know what it means. My mom was an English major and I've actually taught grammar for years. Lol. Plus, who says Shakespeare and Noah Webster get to decide everything?3 -

Lol, yeah we know what your saying, it just makes me think of some of the times I've heard it used (on tv) with the other meaning so it makes me laugh a little cuz it's totally not fitting with what you are saying1 -

I had no idea either...and just the other day I learned what it means to "dab". My kids kill me...1 -
Dab... OMG My kids walk around the house doing that all day. Ever since watching Bolt at the Olympics. It's to the point that I can predict when they will do it so I mimic them. LOL
THOT... Really? I've never heard that one.0 -
@nvmomketo - I realize I have to be old, too, because I didn't know either of these...1
-
@KnitOrMiss I know! LOL My 11 year old is always correcting my "dab". Apparently I don't quite do it right.
... And neither did Bolt. LOL

We got our share of "Dabbing" last year watching Cam/Carolina Panthers. He had already decided to put that aside this year but their 1-3 record isn't causing much celebration.0

No kidding! My oldest "dabs" and my youngest gets all irriated because she looks "stupid" doing it because the 16 year old is not cool, whereas the 11 year old is indeed cool. Anna's a marching band bookworm. Shayla all about fashion and being "in".0 -
